Description:
Type your favourite fictional character using the MBTI

Have you ever wonder what MBTI type is your favourite character? Like a good psychology nerd, have you tried to find online someone who already took the pain of sorting your favourite character into one of the sixteen MBTI types, with full explanations regarding every trait? No? Fear not! This is your chance to do it yourself. You know you're dying to.

THE RULES
You knew there had to be guidelines, right?

General Rules

1) You have to know what I'm talking about when I say "MBTI". If not, please refer to the Glossary, below. We still want to give you a chance. If you still don't get it, it's perfectly okay to lurk.

2) You have to use the English language to your best knowledge. If you're not sure about the spelling of a word, look it up on a dictionary. Use a word processor to do a spellcheck for you before posting. This is very important.

Alright, now that we've made sure you behave like a mature human being in this community, let's get to the specifics.

Specific Rules

1) Every post is open to discussion. Make sure you bring up valid arguments in your post; saying "This character is a Feeler, though I can't explain why" is not going to bring you praise, and it might result in my deleting your post. I'm a Rational, give me rational arguments or shut up. Remember, it's perfectly okay to lurk and not post. You can even comment if you have something useful to add to a discussion, but don't feel confident enough to make a post of your own. Thought-out, well-reasoned arguments are encouraged.

2)This community is COGNITIVE PROCESSES-ORIENTED. Let me explain: you've probably heard people saying "my N and S are pretty balanced", or "I'm sometimes a P and sometimes a J", and while I understand people have different views on things, I do not want to see that reasoning here. Every type has a hiearchy of processes, and simply saying "I go from N to S sometimes" just messes things up, theoretically and practically. I go through this idea in depth here, please refer to it before posting.

3) Do your research. Do not come here after reading Harry Potter fanfiction to say "Snape is an INTJ". Check your canon for facts, quotes, hard data to bring up as a support for your theory. I know psychology is soft science; we probably won't come to an agreement regarding some characters, but things are doomed to fail if you don't start out with solid arguments.

WHAT TO PUT IN YOUR POST

Face it: not everyone knows about that obscure anime character you've been obsessing over for the last few months. Chances are most of us have lives to live that don't include collecting yaoi fanart featuring your fictional crush. So please, don't come talking like everyone knows what you know. Have some sense.

1) Start with a brief introduction of your character. If it's a mainstream fandom, like Harry Potter, chances are most people can recognise the main chars, and some people even the minor ones, so you don't have to expand too much for people to see who you're talking about. That's not what this community is about, anyway. But if it's a very obscure fandom, please include any detail you think is relevant to the final typing, without making it an epic tale of your character's life and deeds. Links are useful; you can include pictures, not too large, and always under a cut. Don't know what a cut is? Do some research. Misplaced tags are forgiven, provided you correct them as soon as possible. I'll wait for a prudential time until you do it, then do it myself. If you "forget" them again, I'll smack you.

2) Now, for the actually important part of your post, please refer again to my post about processes. It's okay to start with "I think my character is a Sensor", but you HAVE to base your analysis on processes, not "letters". I am very serious about this. Use any source you want, quote from them, link to them, make your idea as clear and concise as possible, and back your statements. You need to define at least two processes for your character - that would be the Dominant and Auxiliary - to be able to come up with a type. You can define more if you want, but the important part is getting the first two in correct order.
