2010 Prius II Barcelona Red fully loaded 39486k miles $15976
Easy smooth ride, quiet, quieter than the Insight. No big deal.
More comfortable than the Insight, roomy, easy to read dash, REALLY REALLY REALLY annoying shifter why in the right fuck anyone would build a shifter like that is beyond me. Raised console down the middle is very comfortable, tons of storage room in the front seat, double glove, places for your stuff everywhere. Interior feels much better quality and solid than the Insight. Real car. Crappy pickup but thundy managed to squeal the tires out of the parking lot hhaha. Rear visibility still isn't optimal, but muuuuuch better than the Insight. Compared to the SUV it's crappy of course, but really not much to complain about - and better than the saturn. Rear trunk is flat right to the door like the SUV, plus extra cargo room underneath the main trunk platform area. Didn't get much of a chance to see most of the interior, the rear tie-downs were pointed out to me twice... this one has the same pull-down shade which covers the trunk area like the Subaru had, another thing the Insight didn't.
Pay 16k for it? hell no. 15? rare maybe. 14? probably. 13, CERTAINLY. Loved the car. Thundy wanted to buy it on the spot.
2010 Insight sport black fully loaded 72k miles $12996
Ride is fine, smooth. No noticeable road noise compared to our other cars really. It's no Lexus but whaddya want.
Comfortable, feels plasticky, sort of Yarisy, good readouts everything felt easy at hand. Crappy pickup on hills, AC cut out every time car stopped, that's a common problem in all reviews. 60/40 split back seat, roomy back seat for legs even with front passenger being comfortable (unlike the rav 4). Back seats fold flat down, front folds almost flat down for long cargo. Only one power outlet. Reviews mention bad turning circle, I didn't have a problem with it. Rear visibility complete shit.
This particular car definitely had a dog, staining in right side back seat, right side dent at top of door at roofline, many noticeable but not too terrible scratches, paint flaking about an inch wide, 1/4 inch high, right at the very edge of the hood on left (driver) side.
I liked it a lot, so did thundy, GREAT deal if 10k, good at 11k, doubtful at 12, considering there's others around. Certified, 5 yr/100k mile powertrain warranty I assume that would last us about 4 years.
So when I got up this morning, a friend of the shelter which is close to us but where we don't really go, posted that they're in a bad place, their AC broke and it's looking like a week of terrible heat in New York. 100+ cats in the shelter and nobody knows when the AC will be repaired.
So since I got a little money from my dad's estate, I couldn't stand the idea of what's going on and after calling every major chain store in the area I finally found 3 portable air conditioners at home depot a bit north of us. I begged them to hold one for me, using the "I'm buying it for the animal shelter" card since they wouldn't put anything on hold. They said if I was there within the hour they'd hang onto one. By the time I got there, within 20 minutes that is, the other 2 had vapourized lol. By the way if you ever want to make retail people laugh their heads off, call them in a 95 degree, 100% humidity heat wave and ask for an air conditioner.
So I get the AC, can't load it into the trunk cause SOMEBODY left their golf clubs in there and SOMEBODY forgot to take them out before rushing to home depot (ps there's nothing like claiming you're trying to help a charity while your trunk is being blocked by a phat set of expensive clubs). A dude sees me struggling trying to get the thing into my front seat (seemed like a good idea at the time, it was man sized) .. we gave up and put it sideways into the back seat. He sweated over that thing, I was so embarassed haha.
FINALLY I get the thing over to the shelter, which was BALLS HOT. Some parts were cool-ish, but in exchange other parts were stifling - the ppl there said the heat would go on in one place while cool was on in the other.. so they would try and cool it down but it was almost impossible. It didn't help that with the heat the place stank more than ever. I don't know how often you guys go to a shelter or aspca, but even the cleanest ones - and pets alive, for example, which is THE cleanest one I've ever witnessed, still is smelly. I'd also brought with me a box fan from home and bought a smaller table top vornado on sale at home depot - these went into action immediately, but I told them the portable AC was ON LOAN ... it's a good amount of money to be spending and really, I didn't want to spend it. But cheeezus... it was 10000000 degrees in there, which more than convinced me I'd done the right thing.
Well, I was about to leave, and the AC hadn't been unpacked yet, but was in the middle of the floor, still boxed up, when a positively gigantic grey male sauntered up to it.. sniffed it ... turned his back.. and took an EPIC leak on the box. I mean that dude evicted a fucking gallon onto that box and it was only a matter of time before it would be a soggy catpiss mess.
what. the. right. fuck.
far as I'm concerned, there's no going back from that. I hope they enjoy their new portable ac lol.
hello diary, it's been a long time. I've missed you.
So much of what I've wanted to talk about and write about has been painful and sad, but whenever I opened LJ and tried to put words to paper I felt like I was in grade 11 lol. Waaaah I hurt waaaah.
well, what's the news? nothin much. k. see you in 6 months.
