I wrote DSM criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Trump doesn't meet them. He's terrible person & classic schmuck-not mentally ill
    Replying to @davidfrum
    1) Trump, a textbook case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, will believe the lies he tells, after he tells them samvak.tripod.com/journal75.html

It is insulting to the dignity of the mentally ill to confuse their deep suffering with Trump's petulant tantrums & petty disappointments.

Trump is inciting domestic terrorist/extemist/militia types to organize protests to defy #COVID19 physical distancing rules. US is suffering the most pandemic deaths because we have the most dangerous/incompetent leader. & it is about to get much worse.

Given Trump's malignant narcissism/chronic law breaking, its likely he'll incite violence after losing #2024election. But better his outbursts are as outlaw- rather than as dictator commanding powers of the state. Only sol'n: Trump loses in indisputable/humiliating landslide.
In excellent radio interview, I predict: 1)As Trump's bloated narcissistic bubble bursts, he'll collapse into sinkhole of pure hate/victimhood 2)All but fanatic followers realize this would-be emperor has no clothes. 3)Harris/Walz restore US to its better angels 4Democracy saved

Best way to decode Trump is to assume everything he says is "projection " (attributing one's own thoughts/feelings/behaviors to others). So Trump’s calling Harris ‘mentally disabled’ may mean he knows his cognition is slipping &.his lies are more absurd.

DSM mental disorders are constructs, not diseases. Descriptive, not explanatory. Helpful in communication/treatment planning. But no claims re causality/homogeneity/clear boundaries. Clinically useful when used skeptically. We wrote all this in DSM-IV Intro- but no one read it.
It seems to me there's a conceptual puzzle with psychiatric diagnosis, and I’m earnestly seeking illumination, not a fight. On the one hand, I take it that in a normal clinical context, a diagnosis is meant to be explanatory. 1/6

"It can happen here". We've been warned repeatedly ever since fascist dictatatorships of 1930's. Now it really is happening. Trump not satisfied running for President- loves dictators/wants to be one. People who know him best warn he's a Hitler wannabe:

Up til now, I've argued Trump is evil- not mentally ill. But latest rants go far beyond usual lies- suggest he's out of control/lost touch with reality. This makes him doubly dangerous/completely unpredictable. Great summary by Heather Cox Richardson:

"Never before has a presidential nominee openly suggested turning the military on American citizens simply because they oppose his candidacy". Malignant Narcissism+Psychopathy+ Cognitive Decline= World Chaos+ End Times For US Democracy

Constantly saying Trump's crazy wrong & misses point. He doesn't meet DSM Narcisssistic criteria(I wrote them). Its worse-he's bad,not mad.

When asked who owned valuable patent for his polio vaccine, Jonas Salk replied: "The people I would say. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun".

Trump is by the most despicable man in American politics. But 2nd place is a really tough call. My candidates (not in any order): 1)Mitch McConnell 2)Lindsey Graham 3)Charles Koch 4)Rudy Giuliani 5)Paul Ryan 6)Steve Bannon 7)Sean Hannity Your suggestions?
