Alive! Promise!

Been awhile- lots of craziness really. Good Crazy mostly ^_^

Psuedo-Bullet Points:

-Work is a weird mix of good and stressful. Sales is so not what I want to do for the rest of my life but it’s not a bad place to be really. I really love my co-workers. Have a group of girls that are just totally awesome. Love them. Also adore my team mates. Hitting my numbers has been really really hard though. Did well first month and just not well really at all the last 2. Such is sales, this much I have learned from my father.

-Play. Have really awesome friends both here and away. Since last post there has been much awesome hanging out, many delicious gatherings, meals shared, and drinks consumed. Pride was 2 weeks ago. Interesting as always lol. The last day of Pride we ditched the parade and crush of humanity and heat for the Richmond and bubble tea. Much win.

-Kate leaves very very soon for New Zealand and I will miss her (already do, come home from Oregon!) insanely large amounts. The good thing is that Katie will be moving in ^____^ There will be awesomeness and adventures!

-Spent the whole last week in Florida. It was the first time I’d been home since leaving. Nearly an entire year now, I really can’t believe it. Seems like yesterday I was packing and saying goodbye to everyone. It’s so easy to be back there. It’s warm and is where my family is (and so many of my awesome friends!). Coming back to writing a big rent check, work, and bills was less awesome -_- And I miss the dogs… who thought I’d EVER say that??

-Trip was full of awesomeness! Saw so many people, visited the J and was mobbed by the kiddos, was fed and fed and fed (omg no moars!), and generally basked in the warm that is the “Sunshine State” (because yay for warm even when its raining!!). Beach happened, partying happened, crazy drunken wedding happened, fireworks totally happened, did I mention eating? Cause that totally happened.

-I brought a whole bunch of stuff back with me (and thanks to Carrie I actually got home from the airport! I love you!!) including my beloved mixer (me+mixer=true love), some art, and more clothing.

Ok, work day is over. Home time!

Wow, LJ fail. *hides*

I am alive! I've been reading the flist faithfully, and am fairly active on FB. . . but LJ has been epic fail for me lately. Sorry guys!

For part of this month I had an excuse! First my netbook's keyboard had a monumental flip-out (and my laptop's power cord had a severed wire-oops) in which there were a number of popular letters such as N, H, D, C, and . just not working. And (most awesomely) the shift key got stuck pressed. SO I WAS ALWAYS YELLING. . . yelling with missing letters. It was a bit of a special time for me and Capitan Sexy Pants. He is now at Acer getting fixed and I got a new power cord for my laptop, so all should have been well! Alas. It was not to last. Because last week I accidentally shoved about an inch and a half of knife into my left palm. Whoops! I was de-pitting an avocado. . . and the avocado won (to be fair I was distracted while standing in the doorway of the kitchen talking to Kate, so the avocado was obviously fighting dirty). Cue trip to the ER for stitches. Am doing well enough to type now, stitches come out Wednesday!

Anyway! What's happened in my life, the Bullet Point Version:
-I love my queen sized mattress (and boxspring). LOVE. IT. Now I need a bed frame. A black one.
-Still enjoy my job a whole lot, but the schedule is very very difficult for me. Work starts at 7:30 so I am up at 5:30. This is hard for a genetically-predisposed-hardcore-night-owl like myself.
-Having money again is amazing. I can buy things and DO stuff! But wow, I need to check myself soon! Cause I need to buy a couple big ticket items such as my bedframe.
-on that note OMG I BOUGHT THE MOST AWESOME DISHES EVERRRRRR:

and

They were very very expensive but I regret nothing!!!

-I have been pretty good about my food blog Tasty Noms: http://tastynoms.wordpress.com/
-Made the prettiest cake evers (see food blog)
-Made some awesome friends at my jobbage <3<3<3<3!!
-Am displeased by April cold and rain (unless I can be snuggled in bed for it)
-Saw a cool documentary on people's relationships with food in Japan this weekend with Neko and Tree! Yay! It was too rainy and windy and cold for the cherry blossom festival to survive, but next weekend it is forecast for sun! Hurray!
-Am going to be zip-lining across the embarcadero sometime this week! AWESOME!
-I have begin reading again. Real Books! It's amazing! I read on my commute (cause it keeps the crazies from buggin ya and the bordem from making you take a nap and miss your stop); I've been working for about a month and have already been through at least 8 books. I'm starting on Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind tonight. ^_^
-Booked hotel for Fanime. Am looking forward to it *nods*

Ummmm that might be it. Go check out Tasty Noms! http://tastynoms.wordpress.com/

Hi Livejournal!

I have had a wonderful past week! Good things are going on at the moment, and it makes me really thankful that I cna sit back, smile, and appreciate them.

First and foremost I think I need to say is that I GOT A JOB!!! ^___^ And its one I wanted! YAAAY! Its in sales. I finally bit the bullet and went for sales jobs- its in my blood and its something I've always been quite good at. I've stopped fighting it and am now ready to kick some tushy selling!

Another bit of awesomeness was that I got my tax return. A very very welcome bit of a boost!

Weekend before last I worked Stitches West ^_^ Was a totally new venue for my con-going side. I now know more about knitting than I ever expected to ever even think of knowing. It was much like other cons, busy, bright, and with some very. . . interesting outfits! The average age demographic was a nice change though! I also met Emily and her family, who are awesome <3!!

Sunday was simply fantastic. It was pretty much my favorite bits of San Francisco all in one day in simply gorgeous weather. Delicious brunch in the Castro (mmmm Tangerine), phenomenal friends, sangria, Golden Gate Park (I got to lay in the grass in the sun!!), Japantown (tiny spoons! and Onigiri molds!), Ghirardelli Square (pilfered spoonfulls of friends sundaes! Free chocolate!), and sushi (Barracuda in the Castro ^^). Seriously awesome day.

Moved my food blog over to Wordpress!! http://tastynoms.wordpress.com and updated it with 2 new entries ^____^

Today was my first day of work. It was a bunch of logistical stuff but the place is awesome and all the people I've met are similarly awesome. There is Monday breakfast, different music playing wherever you walk, and I'm training with a group so I am not alone! Fantastical! San Francisco was being kinda special this evening though and greeted my exit form work with hail. No, you read that right. HAIL. Weird San Francisco. Weird. But Oakland greeted my return with sun and a rainbow! Thank you Oakland!

^__^

Next super-wonderful thing up on my agenda: buying a bed!!!!

Love you all!!!!

Hi!

Hope all of you involved in "Snowmageddon" arr keeping warm and dry and enjoying some time by a fire or two ^_^

Stuff going on in my life is pretty same-old-same-old. I love the apartment. Really really love it. Our sofa is sweetness, the kitchen is so much win (we discovered the garbage disposal!!), and the place is really starting to come together. We're having a housewarming on the 20th for anyone local and interested in coming! Comment or email for the addy or go here http://www.facebook.com/event.php?… (you should be able to access that).

Still job hunting without much fruition but i continue to be optimistic (how, i have no idea lol) and have retooled a version of my resume towards sales. I want to keep living here! And I want to be able to buy a bed! *headdesk* Though really how can i be a pessimist when the trees in the this awesome city think its already spring:

In other news I am moving all food blogging (except maybe for a couple mentions and teasers ^_~) to [info]tasty_nom . Its where I'll be posting all recipes, pics, foodie adventures, experiments, and sales jazz from now on. So friend me over there ^_^ I likes friends!!

Not too much else going on around these parts. I'm missing conventions something awful. I miss my con family and dressing up and the excitement. Particularly I miss being involved. I can attend the cons over here but its been a looooong time since I've been just a normal "attendee." And I dont have the contacts over here to just kinda slip in a hang out anywhere i want. I suppose that this feeling will change as Ycon planning kicks into gear but for now I'm missing it!

Oh! and I also found my camera battery charger!! Yay!! So expect pic of my "adventures" to be much more common now that i have my small and easy to carry around camera back ^___^

Love yous all!! <3!!

I have discovered a new obsession for homemade pasta sauce. Making it myself is DELICIOUS! Sooo much better than out of a bottle. My favorite thing is how totally customizable it is! It can be quick and simple or complicated and laborious. Just depends on what mood I'm in.

Tonight I started making sauce at about 8:30pm. I NEEDED it for dinner. Simplest sauce ever. Seriously.

-1 can of whole peeled tomatoes (i found some awesome organic ones that were on sale ^_^)
-an onion, halved
-5 tbs of butter

Toss them in a pot, and simmer for a good 45+ minutes. Stir occasionally and break up the tomatoes against the side of the pot.

DONE!

You can leave the onion in or take it out. Its stewed and sweet and soft and noms. Tonight I took it out and put it in a tupperware, though when i reheat some sauce for leftovers i'll probably cut it up and add it back in.

. . . If only I had a microwave! Alas!

This is a seriously killer base (and a killer sauce in and of itself!). I kept eating it straight out of the pot ^^;; Next time I am going to add a ton of garlic, caramelize a little bit of the onion and throw it in, and slice up the rest of the bell peppers that I have in the veggie drawer.

Mmmm. . .

Now I just need to experiment pouring it over random things so I don't consume too much pasta! Or yanno, utilize my spoon more vigorously!

May I present:

Tasty Noms!

I do not yet have the etsy storefront up and running so everything is going to curretly function through paypal direct. This is partly because i'm refining the "menu" here first! Congrats my lovely wonderful guinea pigs!

So if you think the prices are way off base, there's a typo or error in the descriptions, or anything let me know! (also please ignore the slight dork-tacularness that is contained in my intro lol)

So please please please click behind the cut and read even if you aren't interested in purchasing <3! And please pimp this out! I'll actually be making a post to the LJ I set up for Tasty Noms in a few minutes and will post back with a link!

Oh my goodness its been a crazy month!

So what have I been doing?? Bullet points!!!!!
-apartment hunting
-job hunting
-apartment hunting
-apartment hunting
-apartment hunting
-and some more job hunting.
-and loving all of my friends (Yay for New years at The Den!)<3~

For serious people. Apartment hunting in San Francisco is the most insane horribleness ever. We met some really really special snowflakes. San Francisco landlords. Just sayin'.
There was:
-The guy who "ACCIDENTALLY" hatched his dog
-The 12 year old landlord. No really.
-Many toothless old asian men with VERY illegal "in-law units"
-The Dragon Lady (who made Carrie wait outside cause she wasn't going to be a tenant!!!)
-other assorted insanity.

So we ended up with an amazing apartment in Oakland. Right on Lake Merritt and its totally awesome! And devoid of furniture lol (i has no bed!).

But yes, its been a bit of a rollercoaster the past month, but I'm grateful to have a place (and people who love me) and that its completely awesome (there's a huge kitchen and a DISHWASHER!!!) ^______^

Still job hunting. Actually I'm in the city right now because I went to a job fair. Anyone have any leads for me? I'm really really not picky now!

To tide me over a bit i'm going to start an etsy based baking business. More on this later with menus, a "storefront" and other such awesomeness! ^__^

Currently there is no internet in the apartment. I'm hoping that this changes tonight but i'm not certain. Until then its cafe'ing it up time! I'm actually at Peet's right now near Montgomery. Its a little bit of special-times actually! There's some sort of torture protect thing going on with a person dressed up in a giant asian mascot head. . . and striped coveralls. . . and OF COURSE there's someone screaming back. Cause its San Francisco *headdesk*

But I just wanted to check in a tell you all I loves you! And I shall soon be back to my regularly semi-frequent updates! And will soon be debuting Tasty Noms ^___^

Apparently the creative bug wants to bite at me. I have an overwhelming urge to photograph an upclose (but not macro- just focused) image of a breakfast table scene consisting of scones and handcuffs. The fun kinky bondage ones ^^ And maybe a cup of tea. <3~

In other news! Its been awhile since I updated. I don't know why I've gotten out of the habit but I should remedy this. So what's going on in my life?

Not a huge heck of alot. I did not get the job I was hoping for so I need to take stock and rethink my options. In doing so I've come across the opportunity to apartment hunt and move into the city with a good friend (*waves and hugs*) and I'm taking it. This is an excellent thing because I feel as if I'm stagnating. I need to start working and making a life for myself out here. I need an income! So with that in mind come the new year I will be applying for non-office-type jobs. Barista-ing, bartending, that sort of thing. And hopefully this will work out better and I can more successfully wait out the economy some more. Truthfully though, I know i'll enjoy the type of heavily-people-interactive line of work i'm paddling towards. So it'll all be good!

In more uplifting and neat news I'm going to be a little Jew-girl celebrating Christmas this year! I'm spending the holidays in a way completely foreign to me (i follow the chinese food and a movie tradition myself) but I'm really really excited for it! Stacy's family is totally awesome and amazing and generous and invited me to take part. I even have a Jew-stocking! Its blue and white and awesome and its going to have stuff in it on christmas morning!! So. Cool. So that is what I'm doing this upcoming holiday weekend ^^

Not sure what New Years is going to entail for me. I need to get in contact with Todd and find out what he's planning since he's going to be up in these parts. . . and if I'm not spending the countdown with him it'll be latke and cookie party in Santa Cruz for me ^__^

I love all of you guys <3! You're amazing and I hope that you're warm and snuggled into blankets tonight (or staying cool and enjoying the a/c if you happen to be in the middle of summer in your parts ^^)
