And so we come to it: after many fits and starts, particularly over The Return: The final episode!
Twin Peaks: The Return - Part Eighteen
Straight away we jump in with Evil Dale burning in the Black Lodge and I guess MIKE making a replacement Cooper/Dougie. Hokey visual effects abound.
Awww, Dougie's coming home!
In Twin Peaks land, Cooper still leading Laura through the woods. Back in the Black Lodge, I dunno what the hell is going on but that's some Black Lodge Lynch shit alright>_< Once again we get Laura whispering into Dale's ear as a throwback to earlier Twin Peaks. awwww, and Leland! Welcome back, old friend!
Cooper reemrges from the Lodge to be greeted by real Diane, nice reunion. With this being the final episode, is this the last we see of the Black Lodge?
Coop and Diane doing a roadie. Again, Blue Velvet memories. What these two are up to here, who knows? So after driving through those flashes, are they somewhere else? Another Lodge-type place?
Cooper and Diane getting intimate, yowzers! Awww, did Diane fuck and run? At least he still has a car?
A diner named Judy's? We're not gonna talk about Judy... Nice scene with Cooper dealing to some local cow pokes in said Diner. I don't think they want to be talking about Judy anymore either. Oh no, Dale, you're ruining the cooking oil! Perhaps he should've at least unloaded the guns first before throwing them in the cooking oil? Random thought...
Wow, modern day Laura/second diner waitress, nice to see you Laura:) Cooper mansplaining>_ Laura is having a very random day, how long is the roadtrip from Odessa, Texas to Twin Peaks?
Hah, is that a dead body in Laura's lounge? Hah, no wonder she wants to bail>_<
Nice, drawn out shot of Laura and Cooper driving in the dark with what appears to be a car following them.
And so we finally come to it: After a long drive, we reach the Palmer house. It's the classic trick of the current occupants have no idea who Sarah Palmer is. Laura looks so awkward. Alice Tremont, you say? Cooper should try bribing her with some creamed corn.
This was a loooong road trip for nothing. Nice scream from Laura!
And with that, we roll credits.
It was a weird end, but a good one. I don't quite know what it means, but I enjoyed it.
And with that, I've done the entire Twin Peaks, from start to finish including some stuff I'd never seen before.
Over all, this was great, I really enjoyed rewatching The Return. I feel like the Return in particular is something I'd like to revisit again next year to take it all in again.
It was a great reclaiming if you will of Twin Peaks by Lynch and Frost after what it became in the second season.
There were some misfires along the way (Jacoby, Audrey, Jerry), but apart from that, most of the returnees were handled well. It was nice to see Margaret in her final scenes before the actress passed on.
I loved this, I wish I could've done the whole thing in quicker succession but it was what it was.
See you again some time, Twin Peaks!

Second to last episode!
Twin Peaks: The Return - Part Seventeen
Jumping back in with Albert, Tammy, and Gordon following on from the death of Evil Dianne. We get a very tenuous explanation of 'Judy' the kinda reminds me of Hold The Door from GOT.
Gordon gets word Cooper is headed for Twin Peaks, let's hit the road!
At the Sheriff station we have our usual parade of idiots down in the cells as things start converging on our sleepy little town. We now have the kid with the glove in the cells as well.
Over at the Great Northern, Jerry is somehow in a cell in Wyoming. Oh Jerry...
Evil Dale has made has made his way to what appears to be an entrance to the Black Lodge? Time to go home, Evil Dale... Looks like he's hanging out with The Giant, looking at some crazy-assed slide show? Oh Lynch...
In a world of old and new colliding, Evil Dale has arrived at the Twin Peaks Sheriff's station, Hello Andy. There appears to be some mischief transpiring.
As usual, Lucy is great.
Good scene between Truman and Cooper. Just as shit is about to pop off in the cells, Glove Kid saves Andy.
And in a crazy, quick flurry, we get Evil Dale about to kill Truman who receives a call from Cooper. As the penny drops, Evil Dale is shot by Lucy as he gets ready to shoot Truman. It's a whole turn of events...
Cooper arrives just in time to see Evil Dale get clawed at by a bunch of Woodsmen. Crazy lynch shit ensues including the appearance of BOB. In a weird moment even for this show, Glove Kid/Freddie smashes the orb/BOB into a flaming hole and smashes it to pieces.
Cooper places the ring on Evil Dale who disappears to the Black Lodge.
It's just another Twin Peaks day. Where's the donuts?
More hokey visual effects with the Girl with the plaster scene face turning into I guess Real Dianne. It's like Blue Velvet again.
Cooper opening a door and meeting MIKE who appears to have taken him to meet Jeffries. Nice black and white shot here.
And then we're back to the night of Laura's murder. It's good seeing Laura treating James like shit again. Never forget how much of an annoying dick he is in the original run. And screaming that she loves him before running off just to mess with him a little more-_- Now piss off, James.
Awww, Leo and Ronnette! And who does Laura meet in the woods, but good ol' FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper!
Pan to the next morning and Laura's body (wraaaaapped in plaaaaastic) disappears and Laura is "going home".
We get the opening shots of the first episode, finally Pete can go for a peaceful spot of fishing and Josie can get up to he general scheming.
Over at the Palmer house, I guess in present day, Sarah is freaking out and attacking the iconic photo of Laura.
We end with Cooper leading Laura through the woods before she disappears in a loud scream?
Where's Laura gone?
No musical guest today, the credits role to some classic Julee Cruise.
Wow, huge episode! This has to be one of my favourites of the season. Despite Cooper coming back last episode, this feels like his real return.
Only one episode left...

We're back, and by 'We', I mean me, and FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, this is the one where Coop makes his long awaited return, let's do this!
Twin Peaks: The Return - Part Sixteen
We start with Evil Dale and that shithead Richard on the move. If only Evil Dale were able to be more specific, they're heading right to good ol Twin Peaks, Richard's very own stomping grounds. Jerry Horne who just happens to be stumbling around at this hour is confused by their presence. This close to the final episode, I'm not gonna lie: I'm disappointed by how Jerry has been used this season. He's probably been one of the more disappointing returns. Not as annoying as Jacoby, but he's up there. Not being able to use a pair of binoculars because he's too stoned, come on... Meanwhile, bye bye Richard, you won't be missed! Jerry is having a bad trip.
Over in LA, we appear to have a situation outside Dougie's house with that assassin couple waiting for a moment.
In the hospital, Janey waits at Dougie's bed side, in a coma after his electric shock. THe Mitchums arrive with a comically oversized bunch of flowers.
Assassin couple are puzzled by a sudden increase in activity at the Jones house: FBI watching, Mitchum brothers arriving in a massive limo with catering, and an angry neigh that wants his parking spot back. I think it would be fair to say that escalated...
Bye bye assassin couple! Right in front of the FBI no less...
ANd FINALLY, Cooper awakes, greeted by MIKE who tells him Evil Dale is still outside the Black Lodge. Dale gets a ring and asks Mike to make another Dale.
The way these last few minutes have unfolded with Coop putting all this together, the Mitchum Brothers fueling up the jet, all of it, perfect return for Cooper. Janey E wants a slice of Cooper urgently-_-
Meanwhile, Dianne receives another message, big scene with her, recounting an encounter with Evil Dale including a rape before she attempts to shoot Gordon. After being fatally shoot by Tammy and Albert, Tulpa Dianne returns to the Black Lodge complete with some hokey visual effects. Good lord, the effects>_<
Coop breaks the news to Janey and their son that he's leaving. Coop is on his way to the airport, bound for Twin Peaks.
And at the Roadhouse, we get this week's musical guest Eddie Vedder. Ummm no thank you, the sooner this song ends, the better. With his stupid hat.
Speaking of disappointing returns, Audrey is at the Roadhouse with her husband Charlie. Weirdly they introduce 'Audrey's Dance' over the PA and we get the return of that classic piece of music from the original show and Audrey takes to the floor to resurrect that slice of classic Twin Peaks. It's been her best moment so far, dare I say it? And then randomly a fight breaks out and we end on a weird shot of Audrey looking into a mirror with a stark white background and the band playing in reverse.
Loved this episode, some great fan service with the return of Coop, all the Mitchum Brothers stuff and a slice of classic Audrey.
Here's hoping I can do the last two episodes before the end of the year!

The home stretch!
Twin Peaks - The Return: Part Fifteen
We start off with Nadine and one of Jacoby's stupid shovels. And in 15 episodes, the first scene between Nadine and Ed. Weird scene where Nadine gives Ed her blessing to be with Norma.
Ed is as unimpressed by Jacoby as I am.
Nice Double R scene when Big Ed breaks the news to Norma, just in time to be too late. Nothing a coffee from Shelly can't help with. The bombshell where Norma offers to be bought out of the Double R franchises. And then the payoff kiss between Norma and Ed with Shelly watching on. One of the best resolutions pulling back to the feel of the original seasons.
Evil Dale at a Convenience Store, he's looking for Phillip Jefferies... And finally someone gives that shithead Richard a decent hiding.
Some nice, black and white out, out of it Lynch shit...
General weird shit in the woods with Steve and Shelly's daughter, fuck these two at this point.
Oh no, James Hurley and the Double R. Glove dude saving James from a total beating...
Over in Vegas, poor dead is murdered, quick and sweet.
Back in Twin Peaks, the cells are punishing as always with our usual characters still locked up.
In Vegas, Janey is really settling into life with comatose Dougie, and then from memory, the big moment where Dougie electrocutes himself. And I think from here, we get the return of Cooper!
In Twin Peaks, a touching scene between Margaret and Hawk where she reveals she's about to die. The actress dies in real life not long after this if I recall correctly. Genuine sad moment with Lucy, Andy and Hawk where they share a moment of silence for Margaret. It's been a long journey.
Audrey's husband is sick of her shit. That makes two of us.
Over to the Roadhouse for our musical guest The Veils (minor NZ connection). Not my ave musical guest. Good screams from the girl that got strongarmed out of her booth though and then the credits.
Good episode, lots of cool stuff, good nods to the original era. Ed and Norma, Margaret. Andy, Lucy and Hawk.
And I'm pretty sure the last Dougie Jones scene, paging FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper!

Two days in a row, I think we're getting close to the end of this thing!
Twin Peaks: The Return - Part Fourteen
We start off with a fun chat between Lucy and Gordon, Lucy is wearing another excellent knitted jumper.
Albert gives Tammy some history on Blue Rose including Gordon and Phillip Jefferys' previous partnership. Ridiculously comical, noisy window cleaning. Interesting turn of events as we learn Janey E is Diane's half sister.
More chit chat from Gordon including FWWM flashbacks.
Low ranking police/schlub Chad is arrested back in Twin Peaks but gets to keep his sandwich. Andy, Bobby, Truman, and Hawk head into the woods, Everyone but Bobby looks too old for this shit but it's good to see an old fashioned Twin Peaks police team doing a mission into the woods scene. Just a random, low key naked woman in the woods with no eyes or eye sockets, as you do.
Andy appears to get sucked into a vortex and is now hanging out with the Giant. AKA The Fireman, looking old! Some crazy montage which including Gotta Light guy, Laura, Lucy, Dale.
Poor woman with no eyes having to listen to idiot Chad while she is locked up for her protection.
God grief, so James is now a security guard at the Great Northern. Fuuuuuck... And cor blimey, he's working with a right geezer from London, East End, innit! So Geezer's had an encounter with The Fireman...
Sarah Palmer in a bar, getting hassled by the sort of person that hassles people in bars. Some shonky visual effects as Sarah just randomly pulls her face off and then kills the guy by I guess biting out his throat? Just another Twin Peaks day.
Over to the Roadhouse, two girls chatting, discussing Billy (I've forgotten who this is), today's music guest is Lissie who I'm not familiar with, she has some suitably appropriate tremolo guitar action at least. I don't think this is necessarily my cup of tea and I'll leave it at that.
Roll credits.
Again, not a bad episode, some good David Lynch into the sun shit with his scene, and Andy's scene.

We're jumping back in...
Twin Peaks: The Return - Part Thirteen
Crazy shit going on at Dougie's work, the Mitchums come bearing gifts...
Very Lynch shot of the new gym set in Dougie's backyard.
Jump to Montana, we haven't seen Evil Dale for a while. Evil Dale, Champion Arm-wrestler. It's a bad day for Ray. Ray, sent by Phillip Jefferies to kill Evil Dale, had we been told this before? I can't remember. Is that Laura's ring? And is that Richard Horne now showing up at the gang headquarters? Good grief, I really lost track of the plot in the months I wasn't able to watch. Bye, Ray.
Ray's in the Black Lodge now? And is Evil Dale going to Twin Peaks?
Vegas police station, is that an old school pencil sharpener on the desk? These cops not responding to some clear violence in another room... We do get some interesting fingerprint info on our man Douglas Jones who's prints appear to link him to Evil Dale and a certain Dale Cooper...
Back at work, Office Schlub attempts to kill Dougie who is distracted by the lure of cherry pie, the ties are strong.
In the world of Twin Peaks, Shelly dealing with her shithead daughter.
Norma and Big Ed having dinner at the Double R, is this the first time we've seen Ed this season? Speaking of actors that look like they haven't aged a day, Ed looks great. Nice scene with Ed and Bobby. We learn that Double R is franchising, business shit... Norma catching heat for her Double R not performing as well as other franchises.
Oh no, Norma hanging one of Jacoby's shovels in her store window reminds me of people banding about anti-vax theories these days. Norma and Jacoby meeting is painful.
Over to Sarah's house, Sarah appears to be in a bit of a spiral, though I'm guessing this has actually been her steady state for a while now.
I'm not sure I'm feeling Audrey's story so far. Her last scene was painful, this one isn't coming across that much better for me.
Oh NO, James is the music guest this week, playing his horrible song from the original run, worst musical moment of the original series and making no attempt to actually learn how to play the song...
Closing shot of Big Ed drinking coffee alone at his Gas Farm.
Good little episode.

Jumping back in for another episode as we get closer to the return of Dale Cooper...
Twin Peaks - The Return: Part Twelve
We kick off with Gordon, Albert and Tammy sharing a wine and we finally get a definitive explanation of Blue Rose and some nice backstory tying in Chet Desmond, Dale Cooper and Phillip Jefferies from FWWM onwards. Welcome to Blue Rose, Tammy! Diane is so prickly, but she's onboard!
Back in Twin Peaks, Stoner Jerry stumbles through life/a field and Sarah Palmer goes shopping, Sarah does not like new Jerky suppliers. Unsuccessful shopping trip.
Nice scene with Carl taking pity on a resident at the trailer park. He's mellowing out!
Over in Vegas, Dougie shows his prowess with the baseball. Quick scene.
Back in Twin Peaks however, Hawk pays a visit to Sarah, seeing that old Palmer residence brings back all the feels. Nice scene between Sarah and Hawk, Sarah is so prickly!
Who is messaging Diane about Las Vegas?
Finally we get some Police action on Richard Horne's hit and run and attempted murder of that woman in the trailer. Don't worry, Ben will cover the costs. Ben and Truman talking about Harry, my understanding is that Ontkean didn't want to reprise the role which is such a shame.
Ben gives Truman Dale's old room key as a momento. Will this come into play somehow?
Ben has been pretty enjoyable so far this season.
In FBI land, Gordon and Albert discuss Diane and Las Vegas.
I can't remember who this assassin couple is apart from that Evil Dale put them to work a few episodes back. This is the prison warden, yeah? He's dead, not wrapped in plastic.
Oh no, Lawrence Jacoby going on about freedom and shit, I was already hating his story before COVID hit. Leaving that out of it though, yeah, not into it. Pity they couldn't have found more for Nadine in this season, rubbish. If anything I'd rather know what happened to Jacoby's medical career and his bolthole in Hawaii.
Rubbish.
Is the the first we've seen of Audrey this season. So the egghead is Audrey's husband? I had higher hopes for her. Hah, oh dear. Poor egghead is getting cuckholded, why does she expect egghead to solve this problem>_<
I still don't get how she survived the bank explosion. Apart from finding out what became of Audrey, it's kind of hard to care about what's going on here? Audrey does some good ballbreaking and egghead is a long-suffering cuckhold (is their marriage a business arrangement?) But unless the events of Billy and this truck play into things, who gives a fuck?
We jump to Diane in a bar who manages to decipher the coordinates on the arm of the corpse from the last episode and discovers that they lead right back to good ol' Twin Peaks.
We have The Chromatics as this week's musical guest at the Double R as some women discuss the whereabouts of 'Angela'. I don't recognize these people, it's been a while.
Roll credits.
Again, a slower episode with not too much to hang your hat on here. The Diane stuff could get interesting.

I really didn't mean to go this long between posts, but between going into a new lockdown and not having much alone time to watch episodes, and not being able to track down all the episodes prior to lockdown (they're on a streaming service I have now...)
Anyhoo...
Twin Peaks - The Return: Part Eleven
Jumping back into the middle of this season after along break is rough, but so nice to hear that into music again, it's like coming home.
Kicking off with the woman that witnessed Richard's shit-heel hit and run last episode, she's not dead. Stupid Richard can't even get that right. He's such a dick.
Straight away, Shelly has her hands full on the bonnet of her daughter's car. Kids these days...
And a Harry Dean Stanton/Carl sighting as he goes to help Shelly. Given that I've been away so long, seeing all these old characters again is what Albert would describe as "a real treat".
Becky just randomly unloading a clip into an apartment door, no biggie...
Over in Buckhorn, our FBI gang including Dianne are on the hunt for Major Briggs. No Briggs, but we do see a Woodsman. I do find it curious that Albert is more of a field operative here vs being an analytical/forensics role in the original series. Perhaps her can explain this crazy vortex thing Gordon is staring at. It appears only Gordon can see but it leads to more Woodsmen most likely getting up to no good. But of course, randomly, a pointing corpse with coordinates to something. Reminiscent of two clues from the original series.
Dianne sees a Woodsman who appears to have killed Hastings.
Back at the Double R, Bobby and Shelly trying to make sense of their annoying daughter. Shelly dashes off for a quick meet with her new guy, she still likes the bad boys.
Traffic in Twin Peaks is VERY obnoxious, what the fuck is going on in that old lady's car, so good and so pointless...
At the Sheriff station, Hawk and New Truman trying to make sense of some old map (I can't remember, are they trying to find Cooper or Major Briggs?). Either way, Margaret has some cryptic advice for Hawk.
Gordon has coffee and donuts, I'll have the donuts, you can have the coffee.
Over in Vegas, let's see what Dougie's doing. Dougie's boss muses on the Mitchum brothers and the recent attempts on Dougie's life. It does crack me up that this far through, no one seems to have worked out that Dougie isn't right. Certainly not cognizant enough to entrust with a cheque for $30 million.
The Mitchums are very happy with this turn of events.
A nice encounter with the old lady that followed Dougie around the slot machines earlier on, now living well thanks to her winnings. Dougie changing lives up in this bitch.
And with that, the episode ends. No specific music act apart from the pianist at the restaurant Dougie and the Mitchums are dining in.
Good episode though. Not GREAT, but good for moving us along a bit. We still have comatose Dale for a few more episodes yet.

Twin Peaks - The Return: Part Ten
We start things off with Richard Horne being a cunt, as usual. He's not a very sympathetic character.
Nice scene with Harry Dead Stanton playing guitar and singing. Trouble at the trailer park never ends.
This next scene: woman in a pink dress swatting at stuff with a red handkerchief while a guy in a suit sits and writs stuff, no idea what's going on here>_<
Dougie goes to the Dr. Janey likes what she sees.
The men in suits from the previous scene also like what they see in a news report.
Janey is about to get her fuck on-_-
Dougie's arms flapping around while he's getting fucked is gold.
Oh no, Jacoby's back. Bleurgh. I love that Nadine has a drape store. It's a shame her story is her watching Jacoby... And again I don't know where I love or hate Jerry's scenes.
I always enjoy Lucy's scenes though. Again more excellent knitwear, and a killer plate of donuts. Oh, is this shithead cop intercepting Richard's letter in plain view of the postie AND Lucy?
Oh shit, was that Johnny Horne all tied up! Sylvia looks great too, is this the first time we've seen her this season? Again, Richard is such a shithead! That talking stuffed toy would do my head in. Seriously, I'd smash that thing.
Back in Vegas, Ike's arrest seems to be of interest and a plan is hatched to get rid of suit dudes and Dougie in one fell swoop. This dude trying to stitch up Dougie to the Mitchums>_<
Next we get a scene of Gordon seeing a cheesy Laura flashback as he lets Albert into his room.
Fun scene at the Great Northern, Ben and Sylvia arguing over Richard's shenanigans. It appears they are at least separated now?
Margaret contacting Hawk with a message. She definitely looks like she was at death's door during filming.
Next we jump over to the Roadhouse for this week's musical guest Rebekah Del Rio doing a very nice performance complete with chevron dress as we roll to the credits.
Overall, not a bad episode. I don't know if I enjoyed this as much as some of the previous ones. There were some nice touches though including Stanton's musical number, Richard's heel wok was pretty good. Ben Horne, always a pleasure. Lucy, always a pleasure.
Tomorrow we jump into Part Eleven.
