how to get a guy to read Twilight

Well, I've come to the conclusion that most science fiction is written from a male standpoint. When you do stumble upon a rare exception it is more often than not written in third person, making the reader feel detached from the story. I've grown up playing video games with male leads all my life. Guys don't understand how frustrating it can be to be able to name Link.. but Link's a guy and you're a girl, so what's the point of changing his name to yours? But having a male lead doesn't dictate whether or not I would play a game, or read a book, or even watch a movie for that matter so why should it for a guy reading a book with a female lead character? Bella isn't overly girlie so it shouldn't be hard for guys to get over it and deal with the same kind of detachment that all girls feel a majority of the time. If they can get past that and see the story without prejudice then more power to them.

I presented this argument to my boyfriend. After leaving him alone for deliberation, and not pestering him about the subject again, eventually (a week later) he came to me and asked "so where's this book you've been talking about?". I wasn't expecting him to take interest at all but it seems my strong argument and passion for these books convinced him to give it a try.

Who knows.. maybe you'll be able to convince your guy friends to read it too! It's worth a shot!

OH! and btw HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13th! <3
