Rockin' with Judy Jetson (Western Animation)

Rockin' with Judy Jetson is a 1988 TV movie, released as a part of the "Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10" series. This is the sole film centered entirely on the The Jetsons cast.

In the film, Judy Jetson and her pals prepare for an upcoming concert by rock star Sky Rocker. Judy has written a song she hopes he'll play, but it is accidentally swapped with a secret code needed for the nefarious plot of the music-hating Felonia Funk (Ruth Buzzi). Judy, her friends, and family must stop her before she destroys all music in the universe, as well as perishes a planet of aliens known as Zoomies.

This movie includes examples of:

  • Adults Dressed as Children: George gets arrested for doing this while looking for Judy.
  • Alliterative Name: This applies to the main villain Felonia Funk.
  • Berserk Button: The mere mention of the word "music" sends Felonia into hysterics.
  • Call-Back: The opening song (reprised elsewhere in the film) was originally heard in The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This movie gives Judy a greater focus and also turns her into a Plucky Girl.
  • Dunce Cap: When Judy is caught working on a song in the middle of her history class, her teacher makes her wear a dunce cap.
  • Hover Board: Judy can be seen riding a hoverboard at one point.
  • Lame Rhyme Dodge: When Rosie sees the house being mobbed by Judy's fans, she says "There's no accounting for taste." When Judy asks what she just said, Rosie covers, "They're all over the place."
  • Never Trust a Trailer: A VHS ad consisted of clips from the Jetsons episode "A Date With Jet Screamer" rather than from this movie.
  • No Music Allowed: The main antagonist is Felonia Funk, who wants to get rid of all music. She hates it so much that she would freak out every time she hears the word "music".
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: The Running Gag where Felonia Funk goes into a bounce-off-the-walls rage if she even hears the word "music," forcing her lieutenant Gruff to douse her with water. The first time it occurs in the movie, he grumbles, "Here we go again."
  • Out of Focus: The rest of the cast plays much smaller supporting roles in the film, especially Jane and Rosie.
  • The Power of Rock: The Big Bad is trying to destroy all music in the galaxy because she hates it so much. Even mentioning the word "music" causes her to have epileptic seizures. Naturally, Judy and her friends defeat the plan with rock music which causes the villain to have the aforementioned seizures which in turn causes her to accidentally sabotage her own space station.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Judy's friends only appeared in this movie and never on The Jetsons yet are treated like they've been her friends forever or something.
  • Ridiculous Future Sequelisation: In one scene, George watches a clip from Rocky 912.
  • Running Gag: Felonia being snapped out of her hysterical, anti-music fit with a buck of water. Gets to the point where she douses herself.
  • Script Swap: The encrypted directions to a WMD get switched with Judy's lyrics submission to pop star Sky Rocket. Sky likes the directions, mistaking them for song lyrics, and calls it "Gleep Glorp". The song subsequently becomes a hit while the goons tasked with finding the WMD somehow manage to decrypt Judy's lyrics, which lead to a pair of fuzzy dice.
  • You're Insane!: Judy does this when Felonia Funk tells her about her plan to destroy all "M-U-S-I-C".
    Judy: You're mad!
    Felonia: Thank you.
