Lilo & Stitch: The Series S2 E21 "Lax"

Go To

"Lax" is the sixtieth episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series and the twenty-first episode of its second season. It first aired on January 16, 2006, on Toon Disney, and is a crossover with Recess.

When Stitch ends up over relaxed after he's zapped by Experiment 285, a.k.a. Lax, Lilo teams up with the Recess gang to catch him and reverse the effects.

Experiments who appeared or were mentioned in this episode:

  • Lax (X-285): This episode's Monster of the Week; a purple parrot-like experiment who is designed to halt productivity by firing a beam from his antenna, causing those who get hit with to become lackadaisical. His ability also works on technology.
  • Reuben (X-625)

Tropes featured in this episode include:

  • Comic-Book Time: Recess takes place during the 1997–1998 school year, with Recess: Taking the Fifth Grade taking place at the start of the 1998–1999 school year. Lilo & Stitch: The Series, however, takes place during the 2000s, with the other three crossover episodes affirming this, so it doesn't make sense for the Recess gang to still be in elementary school.
  • Crossover: With Recess. Notably, this is also the only time Lilo & Stitch crosses over with a show from One Saturday Morning, though Recess was still airing reruns on Disney Channel when Lilo & Stitch: The Series began and Lilo & Stitch had also aired alongside Recess on ABC Kids for a few years.
  • Cutting the Electronic Leash: Lax's one true place is forcing workaholics to do this.
  • Lazy Bum: Lax causes people to fit this trope. The only exception is Gretchen, who finds hard work relaxing.
  • Lethal Negligence: Lax's power was designed to cause the collapse of civilizations by making people too lazy to work.
  • No-Sell: Gretchen gets hit by Lax's beam, but it has little effect on her because she finds her work relaxing.
