It is okay for your characters to be derivative, but if you don’t like the extent to which they are, it is never too late to change that.

Start with something simple like eye color, change the hair-style, add an accessory. This is where character creators can be your friend because many of these ideas are already present options, plus many of them have entire outfits you can play with that are already pre-made for you.

There is nothing wrong with having a lack of creativity, but the fact that you have OCs at all already makes you more creative-minded than any of my family members who don’t and live extremely happy and fulfilling lives. If you care enough to even have OCs, it shows that you’re creative enough to WANT to create something and that’s all you need to be a creative person as long as you’re actually willing to do any of that work for yourself.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to wander into a Roleplay group where people shared and pushed their creativity when they were 14 years old. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Anon, if you reach out to me privately and want some help making your characters feel more like your own, I would personally help you redesign them with feedback, tips, or even just a series of questions to help you figure out what makes them your own.
