No offense, the Met Gala has existed long before Jeff Bezos involvement. This idea that suddenly people shouldn't be attending is a little small minded.
I think the controversy has more so to do with Bezos hosting the event than the actual event itself. He did not even walk the red carpet, which is saying A LOT about where the landscape of our society is at right now.
Money can buy you anything but it cannot buy you cultural capital.

I am not mad at it if true, I honestly wish everybody skipped it TBH. There is virtually no or noise excitement surrounding this year’s MET. Absolutely NONE! and most of it is due to the Bezos’s and the rest of these tech bros thinking that they can buy their way into cultural relevancy. Amazon will never be culturally synonymous with luxury or the arts and the Bezos will never be looked at as the paragons of taste, just tacky people with money.
The return of Beyoncé and the promo launch of ACT III is the only saving grace about this year’s MET.
