I'm thinking too hard about Pan!Cleo. There's some part of her that's upset that she was turned into a satyr. The way she empathizes with Apo... that's not someone who loves being transformed into something else completely. But she has to be thankful for it. She has to. Because it was a gift from a god. And she has to be thankful that he killed her to be in this tournament because he did it so she could get her wish (his wish?). He picked her. Doesn't that mean she owes him? Doesn't that make it something special? Doesn't it make her something special? She would be throwing that away if she doesn't use it, even if she really doesn't want it. Just like her dying would have been a missed opportunity, even if she didn't want to live in the form Pan made her into.

When she speaks about the gods she does so with authority, so certain she knows better than the others. She knows exactly why they're all here and the others don't. She speaks ill of them but not to them. When she said "I hope you're all entertained" to the other players before her fight with Drift, she was speaking to them, but I also think she's speaking to the gods. She hasn't made her displeasure with the situation subtle. But when she speaks about her wish, she does so feeling that even if she doesn't win, she can convince others to do it for her. When she speaks about Pan killing her, she says it with bitterness, but still she fights for him. Still she tries to do what he wants her to do. Because she was chosen, because her wish is worthy. This is just entertainment to the rest of them, she's sure, she's the only one taking this seriously. Why else would Dionysus speak to her directly? Why else would Owen warn her?

Not to mention that I feel her comments to Pearl really reveals how Cleo thinks this tournament is meant to be functioning. Cleo doesn't think Pearl is representing her god well enough and that offends her. It's like she thinks that because they're all there to represent their gods, they have to act like they would too. Nyx isn't playful, she isn't violent, so Pearl can't be. She questions Pearl's devotion to her own goddess, a move much bolder than Cleo has ever taken before, because she's not speaking for her sake, she's speaking for the gods.

TLDR; Pan!Cleo is operating with a fascinating mixture of guilt, fear, subservience and an almost arrogance and I love it.
