When you don't want to admit you use AOL or CompuServe that you have been looking at furries while using America Online or CompuServe since you weren't looking at naked people on either of those services.
AOL is still around in some form, CompuServe was sold to AOL in 1997 and shut down in 2009. The concern today is not how to get the traces off your computer, it's how to keep the web trackers from watching you.
The Godfather, Part III from 1990, a fine Pacino film, on Digital 8mm tape, a format introduced in 1999 then promptly forgotten.
This is where I point out this movie came on three tapes, since a D8 tape holds 60 min of content at SP speed and this movie is 170 minutes... thus the first hour is all that's available here.
survived a high school reunion
Hey there, I'm back. A few random thoughts before I get back to the regularly-scheduled posting of old stuff. Getting crap off my chest.
- The drive back to the rez by way of the mountain was excellent, though it has become clear that the state is spending its money on stupid stuff rather than keeping National Park restrooms clean.
- Goji Citrus Strawberry Mountain Dew is truly amazing, a thing I've known for a couple years but only get reminded of when I go back there... it's not availble in the local four area codes. Also, I never forget the awesome of that panaderia and stopped in twice.
- Things I kinda knew but it was verified: A jock and I both lost our virginity to the same girl, though some span of time apart so it wasn't weird or anything. He and I howled over that, and he confirmed the story she'd told me a year or so later that he accidentally left his underpants behind a table at her parents' house.
- I brought up to this woman how in junior high she was always asking me for guy advice in passed notes, and the one time I ever needed some girl advice she replied "I couldn't read what you wrote so I threw it away." Such a diode. She then brought up to me how prior to junior high she and three girls played kissyface with me at the pool, and my gasts were flabbered that she not only remembered but remembered that it was ME. I told her how two of them went to the same church as me, and it seemed like one always side-eyed me like "you are the skeleton in my closet" while the other one (her sister) seemed blissfully ignorant that we'd met.
- And no, the fourth one wasn't at our reunion. Neither were the three girls I hung out with back then. Neither was my best friend, but it turns out he died suddenly in 2022, so he gets a pass. No, I did not know! Thanks, Google! Or my other best friend, but he had an excuse -- he chose to skip the winery event on Friday night to come Saturday, but on Friday at 11:35pm posted to the group chat (with a hospital bed photo) he had a bladder infection that had gone septic. I told everyone how he skipped previous meeting he intended to attend because he got so high he slept through them. Wild how he shared the room number he was in but not which of the three nearby hospitals he'd gone to.
- Got the skinny from two sources why John was not invited, which worked because the third had gone septic. John has a habit of burning bridges due to dick behavior. Whenever I hear people tell wild and mildly implausible stories about their life, I think of him because in his case every single one of the "hmm, really?" stories about him is true and then some. (Like the time he nearly died as a Chippendale-style dancer at a bachelorette party.)
- One of my best friends from junior high told me that I need to start aging because he feels that I have not. This was actually a better reaction than the last time I saw him, where he calmly told me he didn't appreciate me writing a blog post about him asking if we could do the Highland Fling without pants on. He did bring up the time we nearly set his garage on fire because trying to smother a small contained fire with a blanket that had oil spots on it had the opposite effect intended.
- Was very happy that after two nights Patricia finally put her titties away, because that's not what I wanted to see at breakfast. A little better selection of wardrobe would have been tasteful, or a little taste in the first place, but we all survived.
- It's wild how the people who never said a word to you in nine years of schooling now are screaming at you between songs to "take your girl out on the dance floor." And FYI I didn't because she didn't want to. And because I was in pain from a hip that twanged at 1pm that day while I was sitting innocently, and then I go and dance at someone's request (I can't turn down FGTH "Relax") and have hurt my right knee bad enough that I will be entirely debilitated at work in 2-3 days.
- It's also wild how the people you graduated with that you want to see don't bother showing up despite living within 25 miles, but the people you didn't graduate with you because they quit or left the district do show up (and were invited at that). I like that bit of rememberance and effort. One of them just won the "best preserved classmate" award, taking the crown from the chick whose newish blackish husband made an anti-liberal comment to the bluest member of the class.
- I did however make sure to not get one specific attendee who showed up to the first two days' events in any of my photos because that chick wasn't in our class, she's a year or two younger. And I thought I was pathetic? I did have a laugh, though; she came up and introduced herself by name like anyone could have forgotten her (she was, uh, a cult of personality when we were kids and a regular member of the summer swim league my family was in), and I said "yes, you are." Also, there are shirts that fit your bellah out there.
- I would love to share my photos with the class, but the guy chose Microsoft OneDrive rather than Dropbox or Google Folder and I refuse to ever have a Microsoft account (I have local login on my Win11 computer). I can't be the only one who has comments to make since the 90+ photos he shared were in Apple .heic format, not JPGs.
- My Yelp review of the hotel/casino: Accomidations - four stars, because the room was awesome and air conditioning was amazing, but giving me a keycard that did not work and having only tall firm pillows guaranteed to wrench your neck cost you a point. Food - two stars, because your coffee is really weird and you have a mistaken idea of what biscuits and gravy should be like and I have no idea how you failed so badly at toast (though, worth two points, the hashbrowns and eggs were delightfully not greasy). Gaming - N/A since I don't game, but 32dB-rated or better earplugs are recommended for the Tesla-engine hum and slots' cacophony.
Finally, to the folks at the house on the hill that I laid an envelope of my family's photos of that house from the late 1960s on their doormat... I hope they found you well, you didn't step on them or think they were garbage or the wind didn't catch the envelope and blow it into the yard, and you appreciate the glimpse into the past from the first family to have lived in that house after it was built. It's something I had to do. I didn't have the balls to ring your bell or say hello, but leave it to my mother to text me as I'm walking away and her text-tone (since I don't want to miss a text from her, it could be important) is a really loud siren blast so I thought you'd hear that. Seconds later when I got back to the car, my girlfriend said "your mother has great timing."
Autographed photo of Seattle Seahawk and my next-town-neighbor Dr. Dan Doornink, which was not kept in good circumstances.
In the Free box at a yardsale was Scholastic Books' 1972 5th edition reprint of Jules Verne's 1865 book From The Earth To The Moon. The obvious significance is that going to the moon was a fantasy when it was written, hadn't happened just yet when Scholastic put out the first printing, and was still fresh in people's minds as this edition hit the book club 2-3 years after Apollo 11 landed on the lunar surface in 1969.
A major (to me) find... there was a set of Cuisenaire Rods in a bag at Goodwill. This is how I learned to count in the first grade, and my teacher used old boxes from nylons to store sets for each student.
To be fair I don't know if this specific set is old, but since I used them when I was still a cute kid the product itself is ancient. :-P
Hadn't seen Cuisenaire Rods in years, and then I see them twice in the span of a fortnight.
Went to a yardsale yesterday and they had 6-7 little bags of Rods. Thing is, as the lady pointed out, there's not a single white 'one' Rod in the entire collection. Was someone afraid they'd go up a kid's nose or down their gullet? I did buy one bag to add to the previously-shown set.
I'm showing you my little Rods, in a size that other guys don't have.
all kinds of broken
- Get a new Tumblr follower, yay. Check out her profile.
- Every single post is a random reblog on Tumblr, which is fine.
- Every single reblog has "Like this kind of content? See my OnlyFans...", which is kinda silly. Is this one way to monitize other people's content? Also, none of her reblogs are the stereotypical OnlyFans style content, iykwim.
- Continuing the note on every post, "...link in the description!", which is untrue. There is nothing on her main page, her About page, or any of the posts with a link to that OnlyFans.
- Check out her Archive. Across the bottom is a banner saying I need to be signed in to see all of her posts.
- The fact that I am writing this to now shows that I am signed in, so there's something weird about that and I'm not gonna click it.
- Shift-click on a couple of the posts thumbs I can see that look interesting... again, they're random reblogs on Tumblr.
- Up comes a dialog for checking out the post on Twitter/X -- use one's Google account, log into Twitter, or create an account.
- Sorry, my dear, I have to block you, the bullshit quotient is too high.
Do not eat.
Planters Cheez Balls are a popular cheese-flavored snack that originally debuted in 1968, was discontinued in 2006, and has returned for limited releases.
They were okay. I do prefer cheesypoofs to crunchy Cheetos-style snacks, including when Cheetos made their own cheese puff balls.
