Pro-censorship wattpad refugees drama is so funny to me because when I started using ao3 as a kid I was a devout mormon and I thought that reading anything even remotely pornagraphic was a sin and would ruin my life. So when I was 13 and found ao3 I went "oh awesome I found a fanfic website with a filtering system so I won't ever randomly stumble into porn. This is great! I was really worried about seeing something I didn't want to see on the other platforms." I didn't read any smut online until like three years later. If a mormon 13 year old can figure out 'don't like don't read' wattpad users can too cmon you guys i believe in you.

Are you really taking up a lot of space? Or are you just very used to taking up very little space? Cause then taking up more feels like a lot. I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things

Obviously I have many issues with Rings of Power but one that comes ot mind is how egregiously they have absolutely de-cuntified Sauron :( Like listen, if Sauron is anything, he really is, canonically, THAT BITCH! He is constantly from the very beginning playing the game, he switches faces like some people change clothes. You never know what you are going to get from him and he really wears so many different hats that you can hardly keep track of him. Is he a Maia of Aule? He used to be, and on some level he still is. He is a flame spirit of the forge and he is also a maia of Melkor. No longer Mairon (if he ever was) but Gorthaur, the terrible dread. AND BOY does he LOVE being dreadful. This motherfucker has a VILLAIN LAUGH! And he laughs whether he is winning or losing.

Sauron has a habit of forming condependent relationships with men that often lead to the eventiual desutruction of whole fucking kingdoms. He does so most famously as Annatar, the lord of gifts (gollum will eventually call the ring a birthday present) and Zigur who erects a temple to Melkor. It is debatable how sincere he is about it. He is both laughing at himself and everyone around him.

He steals only black horses from the Numenoreans. He builds Mordor around a volcano. He likes being called Sauron. He believes his own lies. He is the villain upon whom all other fantasy villains exist.

And who is he in Rings of Power? Fucking Halbrand :( He has no cunt. Cuntless. He is moaning and bitching on a raft in the ocean over how Morgoth abused him. Like??? Yeah I mean it's Morgoth. That is what Morgoth does. He is seemingly content as a human blacksmith. He is wearing sweaty rags through all of season 1. He CANNOT shape shift. He looks exactly the same as Annatar as he did as Halbrand. And like, I don't mind him having relationships with women. He is a maia, gender is meaningless to him. But the way he goes about it is so love sick puppy dog BORING. (Aside: obviously it is particularly despicable how they have taken away all of Galadriel's agency because of this relationship but that is a post I have already made). The whole dynamic with Celebrimbor is based on Celebrimbor being fucking stupid so sauron doesn't even HAVE to manipulate him.

And he is soooo grim. Omg just like blank faced brooding bad boy. I HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE! Where is the whimsy? Where is the disturbing laughter? He is NOT having fun. And that feels so endemic to sauron. Like he ENJOYS being bad. That is the fun of him that he is so unapologetically himself.

I honestly don't think this is the fault of any of the actors. They have all clearly done their best with what they have but the writing is so bland. And that is the most unforgivable sin of all. Like if the show is bad it is bad but my god grow and spine and actually commit to what you are doing smh.
