Coming soon to the mobile apps: Inbox tab in Activity
Ever wondered where to find your blog’s received asks and submissions on the mobile app? They’re in settings, which takes a lot of taps to get to, especially if you have multiple blogs.
We heard some feedback on our recent update to settings on Android that you wanted easier access to your Inbox. So, we’re working on moving the Inbox to your Activity screen.
This was something we worked on during Hack Days in March, so while we put the finishing touches on it, tell us what you think of this change!

- Muted communities on iOS and Android (v45.5+) are faded in your Communities tab.
- Blog backups now include your replies.
- If you delete your account, we will notify you via email with a reminder that your account can be restored within 30 days if you change your mind.
- Images on the web now load faster, especially on mobile web, by downloading a size matched to your screen instead of an oversized version.
- For your security, "Account activity" email notifications (sign-ins, password changes, and similar events) can no longer be turned off, so you'll always be alerted about important changes on your account.
- Settings on Android have an updated interface and now also include email settings.
- We now surface podcasts when searching for audio tracks to include on your posts (powered by Pocket Casts). Available to all users, with a new dedicated interface on mobile starting from version 45.5+.
- We’re testing an option to view your dashboard in masonry mode on web.
🛠 Fixed
- On the Activity tab in the Android app, long usernames no longer cause the notifications count to overlap the TumblrMart icon.
- Usernames are no longer occasionally squished to the left in the Android app.
- Sometimes, leaving and coming back to a reply draft on iOS would leave you stuck at the top of your comment. You can now see everything you wrote.
- Editing a blog description that contains emoji on iOS will now properly save.
- We fixed an issue on web where polls on the Trending page showed results before you voted. No more spoilers.
- Some blogs' Top Posts weren't updating, even as newer posts became more popular. They should properly update now.
- We fixed an issue on web where some people couldn't open their blog's theme customize page.
- On web, posts you have labeled as mature can once again be added to your queue.
- The "Original Posts" search filter on web now properly indicates whether it’s being applied.
- Older operating systems should no longer hit an SSL error when opening password-reset or email-verification links from their email.

- We're investigating reports that the post editor (pencil) button in the iOS app is sometimes unresponsive.
- We're investigating reports of the Android app freezing or crashing while scrolling through tag search.
- We're looking into reports that some people are unable to save tags on posts that contain a video.
🌱 Upcoming
- This month, our team focused on identifying and reducing spam on DMs, more to come in a separate announcement.
- Related to the above, we are working on a new way to sort comments on posts to show best comments first and reduce exposure to spammy and offensive comments.
- In the mobile apps, we are planning to move your Inbox out of Settings and into the Activity screen, alongside Activity and Messages.
- We are exploring a full-screen view for DMs on the web.

I have 100,000 followers on here (i know; tumblr power user jmg) and i think it gives me, like, zero social capital? Which I think might be why it's still good.
Like, when my agents are pitching me for something, they'll be like, "Look at his facebook! Look at his tiktok!" They're never gonna say, "100,000 people follow him on tumblr. Remember tumblr?"
But the thing is, I don't actually use facebook or tiktok (except for promo). This is the only place I use, the only place where I'm interested in the community and shared creation and all that shit.
So long live tumblr. Nobody who's gonna hire me to do anything has ever heard of it. It makes for a terrible space to promote your forthcoming book tour. And that's literally why it doesn't suck.

Now in Labs on Android: Settings redesign
Tumblr has tons of settings, and in the app, most of them are in a single list under “General Settings”. We cleaned up the layout and reorganized to make browsing preferences and notifications easier to find, put all your blog and communities settings in one place, and added a few options that were previously web-only.
If you use an Android device, make sure you’re using version 45.2 of the Tumblr app, and you can switch on the new settings area in Labs -> Redesigned Settings. You might need to restart the app to see changes.

The new settings area is now rolling out to everyone on Android. This will no longer be a Labs feature — thanks to those who tested and gave feedback!
