Hi Tumblr! It's been...wow, a while. I started this blog during the 2012 turtles series as an anonymous fan account. And here we are a decade later and I'm fortunate enough to be working in the world of TMNT!

To reintroduce myself: I'm Andrew Joustra, the script coordinator of Mutant Mayhem (and script supervisor on the sequel), writer of the theatrical short Chrome Alone 2: Lost in New Jersey and writer of the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book series where I've gotten the chance to reimagine my favorite TMNT character, the Fugitoid.

It's been overwhelming and exciting to see all of the positive reactions to our upcoming projects and I'll try to post here more often when I can.

SDCC 2026 Catch Up

Hey everyone! Apologies I've been neglecting Tumblr the past few weeks, it's been a bit of a whirlwind.

I had a blast at San Diego Comic Con and was honored to be on a panel talking about our TMNT comics with IDW. Thanks so much to all of you who showed up, it was a fun time.

The rest of the Con was a lot of fun as well - I spent entirely too much money (as usual) and got a chance to meet up with a lot of fellow TMNT writers, editors and fans.

My biggest purchase was this Slash figure from Mondo Collectibles which I still haven't brought myself to take out of the box yet. It glows in the dark!

Yesterday was the FOC for Coastal Chaos #1. If you missed the preorder don't worry, you'll be able to pick it up when it hits the racks on September 9th.

And I got to tease our next arc for Tales which will involve a certain Timestress you may be familiar with...

Beyond that I'm busy working on the Mutant Mayhem sequel which is still set to come out in August of 2027. We still have a lot of work to do, but it's coming along!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great summer and surviving the heat!

I don't want to give too much away, but for now I'll just say that Renet is a singularity (we see the same Renet across all iterations of TMNT). So, she'll act very similar to how we've seen her previously. Her costume will have some aspects that make it unique to "Tales," otherwise I'm doing my best to keep her consistent.

She's energetic, resilient, optimistic...and a little scatterbrained. Renet is another character from TMNT canon that I love and it's important to me that we treat her with care and respect.

And with a little luck, maybe she'll be able to help the turtles make some sense out this crazy timeline... ;)

I was a little hesitant to share this but...manifesting dreams has been working out okay for me so far, so why not.

It's been such an honor/joy getting to write some Fugitoid stories for Tales of the TMNT and I'd love to do more. I honestly don't know if a spinoff or standalone story of this character is in the cards, but I want to send Honeycutt on more adventures (in the Tales continuity or a different one altogether).

The little team I set up with him, Lonae and Zog is one that means a lot to me and hope I can spend more time with. Maybe if there's enough interest it can happen someday.

And please forgive my very rough mockup - I promise someone else would illustrate it, haha. But I had this visual in my mind and wanted to get a rough sense of how it would look.

Not to sound corny, but Zayton/Fugitoid and Lonae. I based aspects of their relationship on me and my wife and am proud of how it developed over those three issues.
