Imagine piloting a rocket ship so blisteringly fast that your biggest combat threat isn’t an enemy fighter on your tail, but plowing straight into the bomber right in front of you. Enter the Me 163 Komet, the world’s first operational rocket-powered interceptor, a lethal machine capable of reaching a staggering 597 mph at a time when most fighters barely broke 400.
