ok finally saw the new frankenstein and i have a lot of opinions and i know everyone else has a lot of opinions too but can we just take the time to appreciate how the film incorporates the writing of percy shelley and lord byron and pays tribute to that night at lake geneva in 1816 and the boys that mary shelley loved, whose hair she kept in her desk, who influenced her writing... like... our unbeatable literary throuple is still prospering y'all

lord byron would be chronically online + adored by 2016 stan twitter. mary shelley would have a large cult following on tumblr. polidori would have some niche private blog for his depressing writings. claire would be the reigning queen of pinterest. i don't think percy shelley uses the internet. ever.

CAST ALBUM FOR ROMANTIC POET MUSICAL RELEASING 2026

Huge news for the new year... following our sold out runs in London and 5* reviews, 1816: The Year Without a Summer is releasing our original cast album to all streaming services in early 2026!

Retelling the story of the summer both Frankenstein and the first vampire novel were written, 1816 brings famous literary figures like Lord Byron, Mary Shelley and Percy Shelley to life while shining a light on the neglected stories of Claire Clairmont, Byron's scorned ex lover, and John Polidori, Byron's travelling doctor, who was inspired by his tumultuous relationship with Byron to create the first piece vampire fiction. 1816 is a comedy-drama, highlighting these young Romantics' humanity, flaws, ambitions and power.

We've got ballads, Agony-style duets, gothic anthems and more. I'll be updating this blog with little BTS snippets, show details, answering questions about the creative process and sharing videos.
