One thing I really like about the Rush: 50 Something tour is that it's being treated as a jam session.
For Time Machine tour the framing device was The Gedfilter propelling the band through the eras and fine tuning them to their absolute peak performance while allowing us to look into the Rash universe where they became the world's greatest polka band.
For R40 it was a chronological regression through the eras as the stage goes from the modern video wall and amp envy diorama set-up, switching every few songs down and down until by the end of it the stage is dressed to look like a high school gymnasium with the band playing an encore as if it were their 15 minutes on stage in 1974.
R30 used a whole bunch of iconography with the Darn That Dragon video bringing the mythology of the band alive and turning it into a silly little cartoon.
Every "An Evening with Rush" concert (not directly in support of an album release) while Neil was alive tried to build up to be this grand congratulations to the fans and to the band.
But this time the storyline is simply Anika coming to the Xanadudes Retirement Castle and asking to jam with the band. The stage is set up to emulate the roof of that retirement home and spare for the moments of levity in thanking Neil for everything, they do not want this to be anything more grand than the band brushing off the cobwebs and playing some tunes.
I think for a band that really likes to play their personal lore into the live show, this was the most kind and respectful way to handle a post-Neil tour.
They're just banging out some hits. Nothing grander than that.
I love it.
Krieger from Archer was obsessed with Rush (the Canadian Rock band). Archer is voiced by H. John Benjamin. Bob Belcher is also voiced by H. John Benjamin. One of Bob's favorite in-universe bands is Zentipede. Therefore, Zentipede is not a generic parody band, they are supposed to be Rush.
"Let My People Rock" is not a parody of "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, idk what y'all say. To me, it is and always will be a parody of "2112 Overture."
Now you know the truth, you won't be able to unsee it, and you know this makes way more sense.
Thank you for coming to my Bob Talk...
