The Noughties Legacy Challenge
A 25 generation long legacy challenge based on our favourite 2000's media!
For The Sims 4, created by astrologysims
This legacy challenge has been simmering away in the back of my mind for so long, and I am beyond excited to finally share it with you!
When I say the noughties, I'm talking about the glorious era that was the 2000s. As someone born in 1998, that decade was absolute magic to me, and I genuinely don't think television and pop culture has ever been the same since. I am forever trying to chase the feeling of watching The Vampire Diaries, Glee, and Hannah Montana in REAL TIME. The iconic friendship groups, the ridiculous drama, the filler episodes that somehow became favourites... and don't even get me started on the holiday specials. Just BEAUTIFUL, and sooo nostalgic.
I absolutely love bringing those noughties vibes into my gameplay, so that's exactly what inspired this legacy challenge. You don't need to give every generation a strict Y2K aesthetic or limit yourself to the technology of the time. Instead, it's about capturing the stories, the atmosphere, and the feeling of the 2000s era. However, if you do want to lean fully into the aesthetic, I think it adds such a fun extra layer to the challenge.
Rules
- This challenge has been written with all sims 4 packs in mind, but you absolutely do not need them all to enjoy this challenge. Make any replacements where you see fit.
- You do not need to play with mods and cc but I will add options to enhance your gameplay.
- The life span is completely up to you!
- You can choose the heir if there are multiple children, unless the rules state otherwise.
- I have added optional, and rotational gameplay requirements for deeper gameplay and more of a challenge, but you absolutely do not need to complete these.
- Feel free to add anything, and put your own spin on this challenge, don’t limit yourself to the rules. They’re there as a prompt!
- Sims can be any gender unless specified otherwise, but their heirs should be genetic! Use cheats and/or science babies for same sex couples. This is just a fun way to see how genetics work.
- Have fun and embrace the chaos!
- Occults do appear in this challenge! How could I write a 2000s inspired legacy and not include buffy, H20 and vampire diaries? SORRY! You can totally skip over these or edit if you’re not into occults. I’ve tried to add the majority of these towards the end of the legacy!
Mods are not required for this legacy challenge, but I do think they can massively enhance your gameplay. You can add and remove them from your game per generation and what is required!
!! Please be mindful where you download mods from, and make sure you read all installation requirements provided by the modder. Also make sure to download the latest versions of the mods!!
I’d also like to extend a huge amount of gratitude to all the amazing modders listed below, as they truly work so hard amongst all the constant EA updates, and I personally find my gameplay SO much more enjoyable because of these incredible mods.

No tiny apartment, just a beautiful house with a white picket fence, a spotless kitchen, a groomed garden, and a picture perfect family. While everyone else saw a warm and happy home - all you could see was chaos. You are an uptight sim who strives for perfection in every sense of the word. You never have a hair out of place, and take pride in your appearance. However, the more you chase perfection, the more the cracks begin to show… and even the most perfect sims, reach their limits.

You want to experiment and find who you truly are, and in doing that - you are prepared to push the boundaries. You have a close relationship with your parent (gen 2 heir) but this is mostly because they don’t really know you, they’re so consumed with keeping up appearances that they pay little attention to what you get up to, so of course you take advantage of that. Despite this, being their child means you get a leg up in the world… and you are thrust into a life of fame at an early age. Despite not wanting to be a parent and being in a loveless marriage with your other parent, they had extremely high expectations for you and never truly “saw” you, so you got out of there as soon as you could.
