✧ Random degree observations i’ve noticed after reading many charts ✧

MASTER LIST COMING SOON

disclaimer: degree theory is one of those parts of astrology where everyone has different opinions. i don’t think a degree alone decides someone’s personality or life. these are just repeating patterns i’ve personally noticed when looking at degrees alongside the planet, sign, house and aspects.

✧ 0° personal planets

i’ve noticed 0° personal placements often belong to people who feel like they’re constantly “meeting” that part of themselves throughout life. it’s almost like the planet is very raw and obvious, but the person is still learning how to use it. these people can go through phases where they completely reinvent how they express that planet. a 0° Venus might completely change their style or relationship standards over time, while a 0° Mercury might have a mind that feels like it’s always discovering new ways to communicate. there’s usually a feeling of “i’m still figuring out who i am in this area.”

✧ 1° placements

1° placements always stand out to me because they can feel very noticeable. i’ve noticed people with 1° personal planets often have a very obvious relationship with that planet, almost like they can’t hide it. a 1° Mars person might have a very direct way of going after things, a 1° Venus person might have a very recognisable charm or aesthetic, and a 1° Mercury person often has a very specific way of speaking that people remember. it’s usually less hidden and more “this is just how i am.”

✧ 5° Venus placements

this degree is one i always notice with attraction and beauty. i’ve noticed 5° Venus people often have something small about them that becomes weirdly memorable. it could be their smile, their voice, their style, the way they dress or even a specific mannerism they don’t realise people notice. they’re not always the person everyone calls “traditionally beautiful”, but there is usually something about their presence that sticks in people’s minds.

✧ 5° Mars placements

i’ve noticed 5° Mars can give a very noticeable physical energy. these people often have a way of moving, speaking or carrying themselves that makes people aware of them. it’s not always loud confidence either. sometimes it’s a quiet intensity where people can tell they have strong opinions, strong desires or a lot of internal drive.

✧ 8° personal planets

this degree always catches my attention because i’ve noticed it can make people experience the planet in a very intense way. they usually don’t do things halfway. 8° Venus can become extremely selective about who they love, 8° Moon can have very strong emotional memory, and 8° Mars can have a lot of determination once they want something. there’s usually a “once i’m invested, i’m invested” quality.

✧ 11° Mercury placements

i’ve noticed this degree often appears in people who remember conversations almost too well. they might remember the exact wording someone used, a random comment from years ago or the moment someone’s tone changed. they often pick up on the social details other people ignore. they’re usually the person who says “wait, didn’t you say something different last time?” because their brain stores patterns.

✧ 13° placements

this is probably one of the most interesting degrees i’ve noticed. people with 13° personal placements often have others projecting onto them without realising it. people can assume things about them, create a certain image of them or become fascinated by something they can’t explain. i’ve noticed 13° Venus can make someone very memorable romantically, 13° Moon can make people emotionally attached quickly, and 13° Mercury can make someone’s words stay with people longer than expected.

✧ 15° personal planets

i’ve noticed 15° placements often feel like someone who fully embodies their sign energy. the planet usually expresses itself strongly and clearly. these people can become known for that part of themselves because it’s difficult to separate them from that energy. a 15° Venus person often has a very specific taste, a 15° Mars person often has a very obvious way of chasing goals, and a 15° Mercury person usually has a recognisable communication style.

✧ 17° placements

this degree gives me a very “different from everyone else” feeling. i’ve noticed people with 17° personal placements often have something unusual about how they express that planet. they might have interests, opinions, habits or ways of relating that don’t fit the stereotype of their sign. they’re usually not trying to be different, it’s just naturally how they operate.

✧ 19° Venus placements

i’ve noticed this degree can create people who are extremely specific with attraction. they usually know exactly what they like, even if they can’t explain why. they might have very particular tastes in appearance, energy, personality or relationship dynamics. they’re not usually attracted to what everyone else finds attractive, they’re attracted to what feels personally meaningful.

✧ 22° personal planets

this degree always gives me a strong “fixed” feeling. i’ve noticed people with 22° placements can be incredibly difficult to change once they’ve formed an opinion. they might take a long time to trust, commit or make decisions, but once they do, they usually stand by it. there’s a stubbornness here, but also a lot of loyalty and staying power.

✧ 24° placements

i’ve noticed 24° placements often show people who have a deeper relationship with the lessons of that planet. they may experience situations that force them to mature in that area. a 24° Venus person may learn powerful lessons through relationships, while a 24° Saturn person may develop strength through challenges. there’s usually a feeling of growth through experience.

✧ 27° personal planets

this degree is interesting because i’ve noticed it can create people who are very aware of that planet within themselves. they often analyse, question or develop that part of themselves constantly. they may feel like they’re always trying to understand why they think, love, react or communicate the way they do.

✧ 29° personal planets

i always stop when i see 29° personal placements because they often feel amplified. i’ve noticed these people can feel a strong urgency around that planet, like they’re constantly trying to understand or master it. 29° Venus can feel like someone who learns huge lessons through love, 29° Mercury can have a mind that never stops searching for answers, and 29° Mars can feel like someone who has a strong need to act or accomplish something.

✧ final observation

the thing i find most interesting about degrees is that they often describe the way a placement gets expressed.

the planet is the character.

the sign is the personality.

the house is where the story happens.

but the degree is like the little detail that makes you go:

“wait… why does this person express it like that?”

sometimes it’s the smallest parts of the chart that explain the most specific things about someone 🤍

Aspect orbs in Astrology

When looking at aspects, you usually want to look at the ones that are within 5° to be felt prominently.

However,

The Luminaries (Sun and Moon) get wider orbs due to their impact. Up to 10°

You can look at it like this:

0–3° orb = Very strong, front-and-center in the personality.

4–6° orb = Strong, consistently expressed.

7–8° orb = Present, moderate background influence.

9–10° orb = Subtle but still active, especially in transits or progressions.

Why Degree Matters So Much in Vedic Astrology

Degrees are extremely important in Vedic astrology.

Without degrees, astrology becomes very general.

With degrees, it becomes precise.

🔢 1️⃣ What is a Degree?

Each zodiac sign = 30 degrees

Entire zodiac = 360°

Every planet sits at:

A specific sign

A specific house

A specific degree

That degree changes the strength, maturity, and behavior of the planet.

🔥 2️⃣ Why Degree Matters So Much

(A) Conjunction Strength

Two planets in same sign are NOT automatically conjunct.

Example:

Planet A = 2° Pisces

Planet B = 28° Pisces

They are in same sign but far apart → weak conjunction.

But:

Planet A = 15° Pisces

Planet B = 17° Pisces

Very tight conjunction → very powerful effect.

👉 Within 3° = extremely strong

👉 Within 8° = moderate

👉 More than 10° = weak

(B) Planetary War (Graha Yuddha)

When two planets are very close in degrees (within 1°), one wins, one loses.

The planet with lower degree usually wins (classical rule varies slightly by planet brightness).

This changes results drastically.

(C) Combustion (Astangata)

If a planet is too close to the Sun in degrees, it becomes combust.

Example approximate limits:

Mercury within 14°

Venus within 10°

Mars within 17°

Jupiter within 11°

Saturn within 15°

Combust planet loses external power but may gain internalization.

(D) Exact Aspect Power

In Vedic astrology, aspects are strongest when exact in degrees.

Example:

Mars at 10° Aries

Saturn at 10° Cancer

Exact square → very powerful tension.

If degrees are far apart, aspect is weak.

(E) Sandhi (Critical Degree)

0°–1° and 29°–30° of a sign = Sandhi.

Planet here:

Weak externally

Transitioning karma

Confused or unstable energy

It is like being between two worlds.

(F) Exaltation & Debilitation Exact Degree

Each planet has one exact strongest point.

Example:

Sun exalted at 10° Aries

Moon exalted at 3° Taurus

Jupiter exalted at 5° Cancer

Saturn exalted at 20° Libra

Mars exalted at 28° Capricorn

Venus exalted at 27° Pisces

Mercury exalted at 15° Virgo

If planet is near exact exaltation degree → very powerful.

Far from exact → weaker exaltation.

(G) Nakshatra Depends on Degree

Each nakshatra = 13°20′.

Your planet’s degree decides:

Which nakshatra

Which pada (quarter)

Pada determines Navamsa sign.

This changes:

Marriage karma

Dharma strength

Spiritual orientation

So degree directly affects D9 chart.

(H) Maturity Age of Planets

Some astrologers use degree to judge maturity.

Low degree (0–5°): Immature energy.

Middle degree (10–20°): Balanced strength.

Late degree (25–29°): Old karmic energy, intense, sometimes unstable.

⚖️ 3️⃣ Degree Facts Many People Ignore

✔ Same sign ≠ same result (degree decides strength) ✔ Tight aspect = life-changing ✔ Exact degree often activates during transit ✔ Degree repetition across divisional charts is powerful ✔ Rahu/Ketu at 0° or 29° = strong karmic intensity ✔ Planet near exact house cusp is very powerful in that house

🧠 Deep Truth

Sign shows "what" House shows "where" Planet shows "who" Degree shows "how strong and how exact"

Without degree, prediction is 50% accurate. With degree, prediction becomes precise.

⚡ Example

Mars at 29° in 6th house:

Very mature fighter

Extreme survival instinct

But unstable anger

Mars at 3° in 6th:

Learning to fight

Struggle before strength develops

Same sign, completely different outcome.
