A big problem with horror fandom nowadays is that the horror genre is for freaks and weirdos... but many so-called horror fans can't handle that.

If they wanna fuck Freddy Krueger or Albert Shaw, they insist that these men aren't (fictional) pedophiles, even though it is all but outright said or shown in the movies. (Yes, Freddy was always a child molester, even before the 2010 remake.)

Many of them insist their serial killer fave was forced or manipulated ir groomed or "doing it for love," even when the canon material, the writers l, and actors say otherwise. (The Scream fandom is the worst I have seen about this. πŸ‘» πŸ‘»)

They can't handle characters being incestuous or inbreeding, even when it is consensual. They lose their shit at any age-gap pairing, even if one or both of those characters are literal serial killers. They go off about any (fictional) romantic/sexual relationship that dark or toxic or "impure."

Horror is for people who are freaks and weirdos (about fiction)... and not just for gore and violence, which you all seem ironically totally cool with. If you can't accept that, and if you can't accept people who like those things in fiction... maybe just stick to Stranger Things.
