Sudha Reddy: 'Hyderabad is not just my origin; it is a language, a rhythm, a way of being. Through this look, I aspired to translate that sensibility into a form that could exist effortlessly on a global stage while remaining deeply rooted in the South Indian imagination.

The Tree of Life, envisioned by Manish Malhotra in collaboration with Mariel Haenn, becomes the central metaphor an unfolding of time, memory and continuity. Drawing from the storytelling traditions of Kalamkari, it is reinterpreted here as something sculptural and alive, where every thread holds a fragment of history.

25 Years of Exploring the Universe with NASA's Chandra Xray Observatory

On July 23, 1999, the space shuttle Columbia launched into orbit carrying NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. August 26 marked 25 years since Chandra released its first images.

These were the first of more than 25,000 observations Chandra has taken. This year, as NASA celebrates the 25th anniversary of this telescope and the incredible data it has provided, we’re taking a peek at some of its most memorable moments.

Located in the Small Magellanic Cloud, NGC 346 is a region of star formation seen here in Hubble Space Telescope visible light data (red, green, and blue) and Chandra observatory X-rays (pinkish purple).

The large, neon-pink X-ray cloud hangs in the upper right, representing the high-energy environment of stars roughly 1 to 3 million years old. The dark blue background is scattered with orange and white stellar specks and hazy streaks of gas and dust.

NGC 346 is home to more than 2,500 newborn stars. The cluster’s most massive stars, which are many times more massive than our Sun, blaze with an intense blue light in this image.
