we are NOT bringing 4chan incel terminology to this site, take that "foid" out of your post and go wash your blog out with soap

the memeification of fascism is a proven method of perpetuating and instilling it in other people. Layers of irony will not protect you once you adopt racist, sexist, ableist, transphobic terminology into your lexicon. you'll be acknowledging and nursing the mindsets and connotations borne of those words.

A very astute observation by prev which should not be relegated to the tags

Rain, New Year's Eve

by Maggie Smith

The rain is a broken piano, playing the same note over and over.

My five-year-old said that. Already she knows loving the world

means loving the wobbles you can’t shim, the creaks you can’t

oil silent — the jerry-rigged parts, MacGyvered with twine and chewing gum.

Let me love the cold rain’s plinking. Let me love the world the way I love

my young son, not only when he cups my face in his sticky hands,

but when, roughhousing, he accidentally splits my lip.

Let me love the world like a mother. Let me be tender when it lets me down.

Let me listen to the rain’s one note and hear a beginner’s song.

man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great

The problem with discussing Israel's war crimes online is that the actual real life bad things this government is doing are presented alongside antisemitic nonsense. Like you'll see posts that have coherent points on how the Israeli government has massacred tens of thousands of people, killed more journalists in this war than any war in the past century, and killed over a thousand Palestinians since the "ceasefire" started, and then two posts down you'll see someone saying that Israelis are starting forest fires in Argentina to try and colonize it and when you look into it it's actually just a reheated century-old racist conspiracy theory that Jews were trying to establish a state in Argentina. Seriously? Come on people, it's not that hard to differentiate the factual crimes of a real government from the ramblings of antisemites.

something i find frustrating about Life lately is how people just absolutely refuse to experience any discomfort. and i dont mean this in the boomer "wah kids have it too easy theyre all pushovers and pussies" way, but i mean people will go crazy over anything thats not totally 100% sanitised and comfortable and pure and whatever the fuck. a show has a sex scene and you dont like it? people used to just look away for a second and maybe cringe. now it's a whole thinkpiece. people would rather ghost their friends or let issues fester rather than ever address an issue in their relationship with them. they wont let their friends vent in case it makes them uncomfortable. like can you just buck the fuck up and let things be a bit awkward sometimes? it wont kill you.

Found a great (free) documentary on the Freedom House Ambulance Service here- https://www.wqed.org/freedomhouse/ (has captions too)!

I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve heard about this. like for years I’ve been thinking “imagine if the police were in charge of ambulances and firefighting, all the horrible problems that would cause, wouldn’t it be better if they were a separate thing, etc” as a way to better understand/explain the fundamental problems with the existence of police. that framing was part of what made me start to understand why my friends were saying “ACAB” and “abolish the police”. I had no idea it was literally once historically like that and not just a hypothetical tbh

Interview with one of the original members of Freedom House Ambulance

This is cool as shit, and a part of my own career’s history that I didn’t even know about.

Atp I’m kind of convinced ISFF is a genuine 4chan alt right long con troll because I simply don’t believe (don’t want to believe) any trans woman would give these types the story “popular transfem on tumblr says hating pedophiles is the same as hating trans women”. And have way too many agreeing with her. Like no way dear god

People like Lily Orchard and Patricia Taxxon paved the way for this level of mask-off bullshit. Begging people to realize that ISFF isn't a troll, a psyop, or any other type of fake. She's a predator that's been emboldened by other predators using the same arguments she's using and getting away with it.

'cause love's such an old-fashioned word and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night 🫁🪩

my piece for the @de-fanzine-cpr-pale zine! the premise for the zine was so sweet and i'm glad i got to draw something celebrating the love we all have for disco elysium 🫁💖 you can download the full zine here (it's free!!!)

i chose the song under pressure bc not only was it an earworm i had during the time i was drawing this, but also because of this lovely edit that ignited some very strong emotions in me! go check it out!!!

like this art? it's a print, here! | like what i do? support me on ko-fi!

I'm glad ISFF is finally bleeding support with her weekly takes on the level of "Native Americans deserve condemnation as beneficiaries of American Imperialism because they can join the military" or "calling out rapists is worse than rape" making even her most fervent supporters drop her, but we as a userbase really need to get better at evaluating rhetoric to avoid this kind of nonsense from escalating to this point again.

Like, take her claim that "pedophiles are a bourgeois illusion". What does that mean? Like actually, what does that mean in correspondence to the world we live in? Does that square with anything you see in the real world? How can somebody possibly claim that when people like Epstein, Andrew & Maxwell demonstrate just how deeply embedded pedophiles are in the owning class?

Before we decide to believe someone just because they speak with a leftist vocabulary, we need to actually assess if they're talking out of their ass.

the bad thing about having unhealthy habits due to mental illness, is when you DO do something healthy style you can't brag about about it because then people will then know you've been doing it yucky style all along. Like you can't brag you changed your sheets or brushed your teeth because then ppl will be like oh did you not brush your teeth regularly before? Thats yucky disgusting! So you just gotta keep it to yourself. And be proud alone, I suppose.

Heart attacks symptoms are different for women. I recently learned this.

Everyone should know these things.

thanks to mainstream media and being unable to show breasts on TV, way too few people know about female signs of cardiac distress, and impending heart attacks. they only know about the “pain in the left arm” male symptom.

i had all these symptoms once and they sent me right to hospital

it was scary bc i didnt know these were the symptoms for female heart issues

Please, please, PLEASE, reblog this. i don’t know if I did save or called false alarm, with my boss’ life tonight. I felt I was being a bit paranoid, overreacting, but I told Mirage my thoughts and he, after reading over the article I showed him, immediately sprung into action and then shooed her off to the hospital. I don’t know if I did or not, but I knew she’d been super stressed. She’d off-handedly commented on her arm tingling and I asked her if she felt queasy on a hunch. I went to look at the symptoms and we went from there.

Holy shit, I didn’t even think the symptoms would be different between men and women. This is so hugely important and I don’t understand why we aren’t taught this.

One of the other symptoms that doesn’t get talked about , especially in women, is a “feeling of impending doom”. I am not even kidding, that is a legitimate diagnostic criteria. Please - if you are feeling any of these symptoms and a sudden onset of “Holy shit the world is ending” do not let anyone tell you it’s “just nerves” or “just heartburn” or something.

Keep these in mind ESPECIALLY IF YOU’VE GOT HEART DISEASE IN YOUR FAMILY!  So many more women die from heart attacks than because they don’t recognize the symptoms when they’re so different. Please stay safe and stay informed.

Relatedly, also:

Sex differences in diagnostics are pretty much never sharp cut-offs. The stereotypical “male” symptoms are more common for men, and the stereotypical “female” symptoms are more common for women – and yes, treating the stereotypical “male” symptoms as universal has absolutely lead to women being less likely to know when they need medical help.

But these things tend to go like bell curves, and so even if you’re a cis man, and you think that none of this applies to your own health – if you ever suddenly start experiencing stereotypical “female” heart attack symptoms? Go to a fucking doctor.

These symptoms show up more often in heart attacks for women, but they also just shouldn’t be ignored, by anyone, ever.

Serious question: basically all of these overlap with the symptoms of a panic attack. How do you tell the difference (how do you know when not to ignore these symptoms if they happen to you like, A Lot?)

Share it around, folks.
