Just thought I'd let you know that your one-shot "on the issue of fever and delight" made me very weepy tonight and it was exactly what I needed after a long day. If you ever plan to post on ao3 again, know that my hungry ass is going to eat that shit up.
11/10, would read you making Remus miserable again

on the topic of book critiques have u read tom crewe’s critique of ocean vuong… it is scathing in a v precise and grounded way that made me put words to what i hadn’t liked about some of ocean vuongs writing & i recommend!! (i did like emperor of gladness more than tom crewe did but it was helpful to compare his critique to my experience and fill out what bothered me abt it) also crewe’s review led me to read his book the new life which is a historical fiction that examines attempted normalization of homosexuality in the victorian era that i really enjoyed and also recommend!!
yesssss hahaha i read it when it came out and sparked that whole vuong moment it was sooo damning. a touch bad faith at times maybe but the pendulum had been swung so far in favour of cloying adoration for so long that you kinda had to expect that. the way he picked apart vuongs prose was forensic i had a BALL that’s the shit i live for. ive been meaning to read the new life for ages since to see if he can walk the walk the way he talks the talks, i must get to it soon! but ive seen him talk before in conversation with douglas stuart during the paperback release of young mungo and he was really good then : ^ )
Halfway through writing this I realised I was doxxing myself a bit so I’ll just send it like this…… here are some London food recs for prev anon:) Asmara (Eritrean) and Lima limon (Peruvian) in Brixton, Mosob (Ethiopian) near Paddington, Simya (Korean) near West Ken (idk if they do take away, I’d recommend eating in but the place is tiny just fyi)
I think the dove in Hammersmith is worth a visit, but if you’re for some reason in the area and want a more relaxed pub vibe I’d go to the sun inn in Barnes (its just a pub but it used to be my pub so I can’t not recommend it). While im at it Olympic studios has a cafe/bar, the food isn’t anything special but if you’re into music history it’s still quite a cool place to visit imo.
I’m not really a sweets person but I’ve never been disappointed by any cafe in Marylebone. x
ahh this is so helpful @ anon asking about food places!!! thank you so much!!!
artificial intelligence can’t replace asking my music expert father to make me a playlist based on any genre i can think of and getting sent a curated 40-song playlist full of songs he thinks i personally would like with a picture of me at four years old as the cover. you ask ai to do that n that playlist is gonna have billie eilish on it mark my words
