yeah yeah, everyone loves when one character is smiling when they think no one's looking and their love interest just can't stop staring but what about when the character stops smiling when they think no one's looking? the light leaving their eyes, replaced by depression and hollowness but wait! someone looks at them again and the mask is back on because they can't let anyone know how much they're suffering inside
unironically I will block you for saying “my Shayla” about your blorbo. The meme came from people mocking a Black man for crying for his daughter. When you say that about a sketch of Skinny White Dude #27 you are treating Black pain as a joke. I want to assume most people don’t know the context and wouldn’t use it if they did but too many of yall straight up do not care and would keep using it anyways
either way now you do know, so you can either be better or shut the fuck up
Did they task the vampires with hanging up the flags 😭
to be fair, the outdated information is very accurate to the American school system
twice in a row now, when my local news station was presenting a case about racism, it cut to an ad for our tv provider. normally I’d hesitate to assume malicious intent, but twice in a row? and with it not happening on other news stories? I don’t buy it, so is it the provider or someone at the network censoring them?
I’m gonna need people to realize that whitewashing doesn’t just mean making a character of color white. Whitewashing has its roots in the idea of sanitizing something and making it more appealing to a certain audience (ie the “typical” white American man in American media) and includes anything done to the source material to meet that goal. Removing queer themes, feminist themes, commentary on trafficking or drugs or the prison system or the military industrial complex- it’s all whitewashing.
