Serge Lifar dancing for Valsav Nijinsky to Weber’s Invitation to the Dance (Le Spectre de la Rose).
In 1939, Romola Nijinsky invited a group of press photographers to the Swiss sanatorium where Vaslav was staying. Serge Lifar, then ballet master of the Paris Opera Ballet, came too. Photographs from the day appeared in both Paris Match and LIFEÂ (July 3, 1939).
