recent epidemic of adaptations that take lots of liberties with the source material and also, separately, are bad. but then if you say "this is bad" you get hit with "you're just being a source material purist and you don't understand the vision"...like. well actually I think it rules when people do new and different things with classic works. I just think these particular new and different things suck ass.

Also, re-installed genshin bc I got sick of asking my friend to pick up primos for me after every maintenance and I wanted to start saving for the Tsaritsa. Saw that Ororon is on a banner... Did 1 (!) ten pull feeling safe bc I suffered with Lohen 2 full pities last time I played this awful game, literally had no pity at all. WELL I GUESS I LOVE COLUMBINA NOW 😭 Why every time I pull on a banner with a character I don't care about, not only do I win them, but also get them within a couple of pulls, get their weapon and all their relics roll into the right stats, but when I want someone specific, it's always 180 pulls + 2 wrong weapons 😭😭💀

mtg's the hobbit set is fucking hysterical because as it turns out there are not enough things in one very short book to make even a small magic set and so they are literally having to make cards of every ranbdom sentence that was said in the book just to fill slots
wouldn’t the Lord of the rings work better in that case?
ah, well, you see, they already made a Lord of the Rings set in 2023. it was a huge success and so they decided that clearly iut needed a sequel, and what better to form a sequel adaptation of comparable scope than the hobbit, something which has never gone wrong before,
I’m not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but you literally do not have to be a good writer to write and post fan fiction. Yes you will naturally get better at writing and finding your voice the more you do it but you do not have to be or become a professional level writer to enjoy writing and sharing fics. It’s common to hear people praise fic writers by saying their work is better than published books, and while I think this comes from a good place, that’s not the norm or expectation. There is also a sentiment that fic writing is “good practice” for becoming a better writer or doing something else later, but if fic is the only creative writing you ever do that is literally okay. Your technical skill does not mean you cannot have fun and build community with your writing, or that other people cannot love and find meaning in your work.
