I'm trying to write a character with dwarfism for the first time but I'm scared that it'll come off as offensive so I want your opinion on it since I'm trying to make none of the LP stereotypes apply to him. I'm writing him as I write any of my other characters and also give him relationships of his own but the issue is that he might be comedic relief or just a comedic character in general which I worry will apply to stereotypes, he's not dumb or has any behavior or a personality that may come of as funny, but he just makes jokes often and teases other characters. I'm still worried that this will come off as weird especially since he's the first the LP character I'm writing.
Hello! It may sound weird but your fear is actually a good sign - it means that you care enough about the LP community to want to do it justice. When authors write about a community that is not theirs, it should come with a healthy amount of fear lol
It's not uncommon for disabled folks to manage grief, injustice, struggles, etc. through comedy - it can be a coping strategy. And I find that having such an alternative experience of the world simply makes disabled people funnier. That being said, the Little community has a long history of being exploited for comedic effect. It's not to say that your character cannot be funny, but it's something to keep in mind when it comes to the types of jokes he's making, the context, and who is the punchline. Are his jokes thinly veiled jabs at the world around him, or are they self-deprecating? Is he actually witty and funny, or just punching down? What about the other characters, how do they interact with his comedy? Does the teasing you mention alienate him from his group? All questions to consider.

Fisia passed away today, aged 16 and over a half. Which in itself is crazy because we learned a few months ago that on top of her thyroid illness she had a heart defect since birth. She went through everything with me since I was 10. She was really amazing and I can’t say enough how much I love her. I’m glad we got over 5 months since that last health scare. I’m really grateful to anyone who supported us or messaged me even if I didn’t have the energy to talk.
I hate to plug my commissions like this but her end-of-life care and cremation are very straining financially while I don’t have my scholarship stipend over the summer, so if you want an illustration in digital or guache/oil (though for oils you’d have to message me separately ), a pet portrait, or you’d like a print of something I have up, here is my Kofi.

Some of yall desperately need to hear this: it’s okay for your characters to not look super ✨unique and special ✨ especially if you’re doing it in a way that makes it so their visible disability is done strictly to look different/cool/whatever.
It’s okay to be or have characters that are plain or average looking especially if the alternative is a poorly researched failed attempt at a disability representation
AND you also need to think WHY the disabilities you give them are aesthetical.
There are so many different shapes and forms humans can have it’s a shame to be so obsessed with beauty standards or “pretty uniqueness” that many features (like big noses or buck teeth) don’t get considered for designs
I don’t know if it’s been answered or even if it’s true, but ive heard of vilitigo effecting people’s eyes? if is it true, do you have anything about it?
and you can completely ignore the first question if you don’t want to answer, i also kind of want to know how to describe vilitigo,, like is it offensive to call it markings/patterns? (im sorry if it is!)
I haven’t seen any ACTUAL research or proof saying that it does nor have I seen anyone with vitiligo have eye color changes. 99% of the time you see vitiligo with heterochromia it’s fake or misrepresentation
Eye pigment works differently then skin pigment and eyes have their own autoimmune system
I’ve seen some hearsay about it affecting vision but no actual solid proof also it makes like zero sense realistically if you ask me. If you see someone saying that don’t trust them :)
