I just like the idea that everyone but bobo thought his nickname was meant to be a “thing”
I think its pretty interesting how Ly'lac called Bowie a feminized version of their name. Like not just inserting an apostraphe in a random spot but specifically making sure it fits with the nymph flower thing by calling them "Bo'bo"
"all girls are nymphs" okay so Ly'lac Knows Exactly What She's Implying with that apostrophe.
Black tgirl Bo'bo stocks are increasing by the day
I’m 90% sure that there’s gonna be a twist and Dirk isn’t literally bobo’s guardian (like a splinter of him or barely in his life), but I needed to draw it lmaooo
(Also sorry for not posting much, college was fucking me over and I’m trying to fight burn out)
Ps sorry for my bad design for tc, I don’t have designs for any of them lol, just going off on what we have
The latest upd8 with Lylac and Bowie really got me thinking about just why these two are friends, and I really think (if transfem Bowie is true and real like I believe in my heart) that they are two black girls bonding together because they may not fit perfectly into Black culture.
For one, I feel we saw this a bit with Lylac with not only her interest in specifically older cartoons, but with her interest in bombs and old technology. She has an alchemy set in her room, but prefers homemade bombs rather then explosions made from Nymph magic. Her friend who is more intune with Black culture is kind of dismissive but slightly tolerant of her hobby in cartoons and bombs.
And Bowie is a girl who didn't have the same upbringing that most Nymph's would have, and thus wasn't exposed to that culture as a young child. So she might feel as if she wants to connect in some way and learn about her culture later on in life which can definitely be a pretty alienating experience! Which is why I think its so great that they're friends and they seem to have a genuine connection with one another. And would explain why both of Lylac's friends who already sort of tease her for HER interests is so distrusting and hostile about Bowie getting too "close to a Nymph".
Of course, the Nymph's and Satyrs have a very complex history with one another, so there's obviously more reasons for why they're distrusting of Bowie (that, and well, Bowie doesn't exactly have the best handle on boundaries), but I think Bowie is more similar to Lylac's friends than they realize, and they just haven't really given Bowie that chance to sort of become genuinely close with them.
If the Karkat watching June's childhood reveal came out today, modern fandom would be canceling him so hard over it, after all, he messages June out of nowhere knowing so much information about her. This must mean he is an irredeemable creep & no nuances are allowed about it.
