Happy birthday to trans pioneer Michael Dillon!

Michael was born on 1 May in England in 1915.

While working nights at a Bristol garage during the Blitz, Michael began reading texts on medicine, and endocrinology. In 1946 he published Self: A Study in Ethics and Endocrinology which argued that an individual should have the final say over what medical treatment they underwent to affirm their gender identity. That same decade, he himself became the first trans man to undergo a phalloplasty, and later went on to become the first white European to be ordained in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

May is wrapping up, and with the end of May comes the end of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. There are so so so many great books coming out by AAPI authors starring AAPI characters, and so – here’s a list of some of our favorites!
