What on earth is happening on twitter
Anyone got any good vegetarian or vegan recipes? I keep thinking about the fact that animals have to straight-up die to make a single meal and feel sick lol. Gotta have some good easy dinner recipes. I have a lot of lovely vegan and vegetarian recipes, but I don't have any that are "easy dinner" level really.
Note: I am allergic to avocado, so please do not include it <3 I can do avocado oil, because I think it doesn't have the proteins in it? But I am fully allergic to the actual fruit.

really tired of seeing the idea that women & girls are less likely to be diagnosed with autism because it "presents differently" so widely accepted even in progressive spaces
it is also widely accepted that women get raises less often because they don't ask as much as men. this is objectively not true.
it is also widely accepted that women are more talkative than men. this is objectively not true.
it is also widely accepted that women are taken less seriously when speaking because their speech patterns are associated with a "lack of confidence". this is objectively not true. [1][2][3]
every time we talk about gender discrimination, people look for an explanation that starts with women's behavior.
and every fucking time, actual research shows that across the board, women actually don't behave that differently from men.
women aren't diagnosed less often with autism due to "presenting differently". it's gendered medical neglect, and weaponized diagnoses disproportionately applied to women (e.g. BPD, HPD, bipolar, etc.)
Autism presents differently in some women because those women were brought up by misogynists to present themselves differently. This gets broadly applied to be interpreted as "women are less likely to be autistic and women with autism don't look autistic", when in fact autistic women both exist and often do not present differently. Those women who present differently are not presenting differently because it is a fundamental trait, but because those specific women were victims of misogynistic abuse that they would also have been victims of if they had not been autistic.
Women get raises less because misogynists think women are less valuable. Those women who do not ask for raises are also victims of misogynistic abuse that belittles, patronises, or dismisses them out of being able to ask for anything, raises or otherwise. Most women ask for raises and do not receive them, but those women who do not ask for them do not do so because they are beaten down until they stop asking for anything, ever.
Women do not typically talk any more or less than men, but some women are forced to use many, many words in order to defuse the irrational ire of misogynists around them. Defusing and deescalating require, generally, more words; proving your value to other women in a misogynistic system requires more words; avoiding irrational blame requires more words. Most women do not talk more or less than men, and those few women who do are typically doing it because a misogynistic system forces them to do so.
Most women's speech patterns, absent misogyny, are pretty much like most men's. Misogyny bullies some women out of being allowed to voice opinions because misogynists do not tolerate women with opinions. It abuses women into situations where they are not permitted to make statements, only to ask permission to have a view and to accept it if they are denied that basic right. Most women do not speak differently to most men, but misogynistic men talk with unearned authority and abused women talk with undeserved self-effacement.
Basically... some studies do show women behave differently. This is because those studies are examining women who were in an abusive relationship with all of society, which is generally misogynistic and abusive towards women. Many women are privileged or lucky or protected enough to nevertheless push through that, especially in the modern day, but older studies or studies of more misogynistic settings or studies of industries or places where women are more marginalised do still find these things. This is not because that is an inherent trait of women: if men were marginalised, it would be found in studies of men. But... it's women.
Basically, I do agree with the thrust of the point as given, but women absolutely sometimes do do those things and it's never an inherent trait of women or some bioessentialist truther bullshit. It's just more misogyny and abuse.
The same thing happens to racialised people. Black women are more commonly regarded as talkative than white women, because many Black women are in settings where talkativeness is a critical survival trait. It is a learnt behaviour that is adapted without a choice, by force, because their oppressors force them to do so.

The difference between "There used to be hot summers too,” and a climate crisis.
Look, we all know this is true. But there isn't a SOURCE for this, and the graph itself is basically illegible beyond "ooh colors". If we want to be good stewards of our informational resources, we need to cite our sources.
From a reverse image search, I found the website Show Your Stripes, run by the University of Reading in the UK, which is likely where the above graph originated. It provides temperature data for various regions of the world from approximately 1900-2025. For example, here are graphs for Canada, India, and Papua New Guinea:
All clearly show a sharp rise in temperature beginning around approximately the 1980s, which corresponds with the graph in OP's post. But now we know where this data came from, and we can verify its validity accordingly.
Why is it referred to as coming out of the closet?
It could be coming out of anything. What wasted potential.
Coming out of my cage and I’ve been doing just guys

my resident and registrar went out to grab coffee and as we were walking back we all compared names

things in phm that really tickled me as a marine biologist:
- the concept of star-eating microbes causing a crisis and the solution being the introduction of space wolves to space yellowstone to control the space elk population. i love a good trophic cascade
- dr ryland grace immediately pitching "turn the spaceship into a giant centrifuge to generate gravity" and then not balancing his actual centrifuge later on
- the entire "life is reason" scene really
- grace forgetting to open the mystery alien container in a fume hood AND immediately sticking his nose in it. if we did this in chemistry lab we were executed on the spot
- academia drama being one of the cornerstones of grace's character
- grace switching through every spectrum setting on the microscope to try to see into the astrophages and not being able to (relatable)
- also: the astrophage dying and grace going "ohhh it died..." (very relatable)
- grace having his not-scientist buddy Carl to give him frank solutions when he's overthinking. yes, often the solution is just to put the box in another box
- copious duct tape usage
- just sticking a filter into the path of the petrova line to collect astrophage goop
- eva going "so it's alive" when grace tells them the astrophage are moving, and him being like "WELL ok that could be for a lot of reasons" in the tone of someone who doesn't even know where to start explaining why that's a hasty assumption
- grace referring to the first new astrophage as his and carl's baby multiple times (HIGHLY relatable)
- humanity's greatest hope being a teacher. humanity being saved by grace's ability to find novel ways to communicate well with others -- something that made him excellent as an educator, and enabled him to bond with rocky
So from 1914 to 1925 the Soviet Union had a prohibition on alcohol
And from 1917 to 1933 homosexuality was legal in the Soviet Union
So there was a brief window from 1925 to 1933 that someone could have feasibly been to a Soviet gay club
Do you think Stalin ever went to the hypothetical Soviet gay clubs?
Take note that this window also includes the period between the removal of trotsky from the politburo in '26 and his exile from the Soviet union in '29
