As for your question, It depends! I had to do a lot of individual research on different plant species and because of the different plants the cookies themselves are based on. Herb is a “perfect flower” like most Venus flytraps (monoecious) but identifies as a trans woman. Spinach would fall into the category of diocious (Spinach plants are either male or female) and identifies as a cis woman. It honestly depends on their preference and what they choose to label themselves as. Hydrangea comes to mind (also monoecious!) as in my head she doesn’t identify with any label.

I didn’t really enjoy my botany classes as much as my more animal oriented lectures so taking the time to read up on plant diversity for this project has been so eye opening and interesting! I love getting the opportunity to chat bio stuff with others so do not feel bad for rambling at all! and thank you so much! 🥹🩷

I plan on making a whole post regarding this eventually! The short answer is it depends.

Cookies can be baked 50/50 style, with both parents contributing parts of their dough and baking a child. This can also be done solo, with the main parent contributing a hefty amount of dough and baking a child. (Dark Cacao did this with Dark Choco.) Baking is a viable method for Cookies who wish to reproduce asexually (White Lily and Elder Faerie with Blue Lily for example) or for same sex relationships.

Cookies can also reproduce sexually if they wish. Following the process like we do. Sparkling and Eggnog with Apple for example. There’s also the weird outliers like Plantcookies being able to reproduce with pollen and spores, a whole other ballpark. Or birdcookies and reptiles with eggs. All of them can opt into reproducing via baking as well.

There’s soooooo many ifs and intricacies with this which is why i’m hoping to dedicate an entire post to this topic in the future. This is like a basic “yeah lol” post >_<

I’ll admit that mistake most likely came from me trying to translate the plant gender spectrum with human labels as I didn’t feel right using the botany terminology, unfortunately misunderstanding what the label meant. Which was a massive oversight on my part.

When writing plantcookies I wanted to write them as a group of Cookies who do not conform to typical human gender norms as irl plants are incredibly diverse and vary from species to species. Most notably “Perfect Flowers” which contain both the male (stamen) and the female (pistil) sex organs. which is where i got confused >_<

Needless to say, the clarification is appreciated and noted! I’ve been planning on writing intersex Cookies for ages now and learning how the term is actually used and its connotation is very helpful :]🩷
