Uhm so if I may ask a question about ageswap serizawa? Just like how is he doing in general? Also how is his dynamic with Reigen?

Also also, unrelated, but has Reigen ever gotten like injured during a mission/job w mob and like how did mob react?

1.) ageswap serizawa

  • in general he's doing well! his general arc is mostly the same in canon where it focuses on self-improvement with his powers and emotional state and such. him and reigen are good friends. reigen likes to give serizawa sage advice on re-entering society and getting big and all that even though he's also a socially recluse loser. serizawa gets kind of stressed with the shenanigans reigen drags him into but he is happy to be with him anyways lol! they kind of foil each other (powerful psychic/normal guy, socially anxious/socially competent, reigen reminds mob of teru/serizawa reminds mob of himself, etc.)
  • im still thinking on the specifics but i do like to imagine serizawa met toichiro before he met reigen (same deal in canon where it was toichiro who convinces him to leave his room but had some ulterior motive), and when serizawa does eventually meet reigen, reigen immediately calls toichiro out on it. so there's a lot of push and pull about who serizawa thinks he should listen to and who really has his best interest in mind. and maybe it resolves by him coming to the realization that he needs to make his own choices and actually live his life instead of just following after toichiro or reigen's word... something like that!

2.) has reigen ever been injured?

  • plenty of times. because s&s would probably be a lot more reputable in this au (tome founded the office quite early + tome actually takes the occult very seriously + mob is mob) their missions are generally more dangerous. mob and tome cant be everywhere at once so they get pretty meticulous about drilling safety protocol into reigen's head if they ever even bring him at all (and in the future, this applies to rest of the s&s kids)
  • most of reigen's injuries are probably when he was an even younger kid and would butt into tome and mob's missions despite them telling him not to or just generally being kind of unruly at inopportune times. by the time he's mob's age in canon he's gotten enough lectures from tome and mob to at least think before he does something stupid (not enough to stop doing stupid things though)
  • they teach him some basic non-esper exorcism things (i.e. blessed/ritualized salt, talismen, gohei) as well as just how to throw straight hands to be honest. more than that, they teach him that he's allowed to run away and come to them if they going gets tough

thank you for the ask, hope this made sense! im kind of surprised so many people are asking abt the au even though in kind of slow at drawing out my ideas for it lol, im glad people are having fun with this

i like the idea of ageswap ritsu as a doctor who is estranged from mob and doesnt really talk to him anymore, but one day for one reason or another he comes across mob's health records and its full of instances where he's been hospitalized for a multitude of minor to near-deadly injuries and getting a pit in his stomach about what could possibly be going with his brother for him to be getting so many back to back injuries.

conversely i also like the idea of ritsu as a lawyer who comes across shigeo's criminal record and while he technically has done no crimes there are a few instances where police briefly connected him to a (clearly psychic-related) homicide before dropping it because they didn't have sufficient evidence to make an arrest. maybe even one actual instance where he was tried for a murder and was miraculously acquitted on the grounds of justified self-defense.

i think i prefer the doctor route bc aside from being in premed myself, between a display of how mob is willing harm himself or let himself be harmed for others/how little he actually cares for himself VS a reminder of how destructive his brother can be i feel like for ritsu the former is more compelling...... he already knows and has firsthand experience with how dangerous his brother can be from their childhood so i think it'd be nice if this was a turning point for him to start seeing that mob is not just a danger to pacify but a person who is also hurting very deeply

somebody on twt asked about what i was thinking abt for minori and mogami in my ageswap au so i thought i'd share here too

  • tbh im still experimenting with the kind of concepts i can do for them, right now though one im really partial to is the idea of mogami sort of living the life he put mob through where he's gifted with powerful psychic powers but he leads a lonely and miserable life trying to help make ends meet for himself and his mother through using his powers.
  • meanwhile, minori is a powerful spirit whose specialty is faustian bargains and/or illusions. manipulated by her father as the heiress to his corporation and dying in disgrace to further his own goals in life, she often targets people in high positions of power out of vengeance. she arranges for situations where they become desperate and lures them into making deals with her that they either couldn't possibly repay or was rigged against them to begin with, consuming their souls when the time comes to collect
  • they cross paths when minori's current target and mogami's new unsavory employer end up being the same person. minori is ecstatic to find a powerful esper who just so happens to be very impressionable. she's quick to position herself as someone who can guide him and protect him, with the ultimate end goal of subsuming his soul and thus his power
  • for their dynamic i imagine minori acts like a malevolent yet protective spirit to mogami? she scares mogami shitless, ultimately sees him as beneath her, and is constantly giving him practical but extremely morally distressing advice. but she has moments where she feels a very small but genuine care for him: in the same way a farmer may feel compassion for cattle they know they will slaughter in the end.
  • the advice she gives mogami is malicious but sincere: a dog-eat-dog world is what minori knew, and she's offering what she legitimately thinks is best for him.
  • i like to imagine that mogami arc in this au still has similar themes but it's presented differently. for example when mob has to settle minori, instead of torturing him with an alternate reality where he is even more miserable, she instead feeds him the illusion of a life he's always wanted with the people he misses and control over his powers that he wished he had, that he can get at the very small price of surrendering to her and abandoning the people in his actual but significantly worse life who are relying on him.
  • similar to mogami in canon i don't think minori gets exorcised but she chooses to leave mogami be when she's properly convinced of his mettle to turn his life around. i also like to imagine that she takes an interest in mob after their encounter and occasionally intrudes on his headspace when unconscious to fuck with him / poke and prod at his convictions

Humbly approaches. I saw you wanted ppl to ask you abt ur ageswap au & I AM curious so. How does ritshou's relationship (platonic or romantic idc) work here :3 ritsu's my fav so I'd love 2 hear ur thoughts!

hiiii thank you for asking! for their individual characters:

  • shou is a chaotic neutral mercenary esper who is known to be reliable and off-puttingly carefree. he gets into some shady business at times but overall he's more focused on creating a comfortable life for him and his relative toichiro who was more or less dropped onto his doorstep by his parents and put in his care.
  • toichiro is very stand-offish so shou's kind of troubled about how to get along with him better. more than that he has a hunch that toichiro is doing some rather unsavory things with his powers and getting some funny ideas about his place in the world. shou wants to push him into a better direction but isn't sure how
  • for ritsu because neither him nor shigeo have addressed their respective repression issues or repaired their relationship, he's still kind of stuck playing the role of being the perfect son. im still stuck between choosing to make him a lawyer or a health professional (stereotypical "successful" job in asian households) but he is otherwise in his last years of schooling or just began interning. seems to have his shit together but has a weariness to him bc of The Horrors that most people attribute to his studies/job
  • even though they hardly see each other anymore ritsu is still often worried about shigeo. both because of the fear of ??? and because everytime he DOES see him mob looks even more worse for wear than usual (because of cyclically bottling things up and then exploding, but ritsu doesn't know that and thats whats bothering him). his full-time career of being an exorcist under tome, while against all odds somewhat sucessful, does not help ease his nerves. ritsu wants to push him into a better direction but doesn't know how

for ritshou's relationship specifically im still experimenting with what direction i want to go with them in my head, but so far it's like:

  • ritsu meets shou a little earlier on when his psychic powers naturally awaken after a stressful event. shou coaches him through his powers for a little while and they become sort of friends if shou breaking and entering through ritsu's windows at 2 am to hang out count as friendship. they're kind of on-and-off because shou is flighty; he comes and goes as he pleases and ritsu kind of has too much going on atm to really press him about being more consistent
  • after discovering shou's work as a psychic mercenary, he more or less asks him to privately investigate shigeo and his powers and figure out what exactly the deal with ??? is and if there's a way to help his brother under the guise of simply investigating one of shigeo's recent explosions. when shou finds that ritsu's mysteriously powerful bro and his funny little protege(s) are inspiring a change of heart in toichiro, he gets a little (very) invested. him and ritsu end up settling into a unexpected rhythm to get to the bottom of things

funnily enough i think in comparison to terumob the progression of their relationship is way more linear in this au despite being similarly a slowburn, which is sort of the inverse of how i interpret both pairs in most post-canon scenarios lol! hope this was a satisfactory answer, thank you so much for the ask!

waooowwww, can you tell us more about ur ageswap au? :>

Avatar

i let this sit in my ask box for a while because i was having trouble figuring out What Exactly about my au to discuss, the way the ideas are laid out in my head is just very scattered lol... if you have more specific questions or there's soething in particular you want to know i'd be happy to answer

i settled on yapping about platonic tsumob a little bit

  • i like to think of them being bar buddies. theyy run into each other at the same bar after a mutually tough work day and end up getting along like a house on fire
  • the way i imagine ageswap tsubomi atm is with her ending up with a regular ol office job and its stable and she's honestly pretty well off but she still struggles a lot with like. being simultaneously idealized yet belittled by the people around her in subtle ways. basically an extension of how in canon she has a lot of expectations placed on her and she's put on this pedestal, but at the same time it seems nobody really knows her or has tried to know her that well and people brush her off based on their assumptions of her.
  • i dont think mob still has romantic feelings for her esp after the 9/11 that is his situationship with teru but he'd probably still hold her at high regard. he's drunk at the bar like wooooooww tsubomi-chan you work a completely normal 9 to 5 as an corporate officer? you're incredible..... and tsubomi just takes it in stride like yeah i know. it is so hard not to kill my co-workers everyday. expecting him to be dissapointed that she doesn't match whatever version of her he has in his mind. but mob is just like oh.... me too! (completely serious and literal) and it develops from there i guess
  • tome joins in often as well because she goes to the bar with mob after work a lot to begin with and they turn into like a little friend group and the chitchat and gossip after work whenever they have time
  • i like to imagine emi and mezato also joining ocassionally and i have a few ideas floating around my head for them but nothing super concrete yet so ill let them stew a bit

thank you for the ask!

Hey this might be a stupid question but in your ageswap how does reigen become mob’s student? Like do they meet in some wild way or does reigen just burst in and say “make me your student!!” (Btw I love your art and au it’s amazing)

hello, not a stupid question at all!! they meet when shigeo and tome save reigen while on a job. reigen of course thinks espers and spirits and stuff being Actually real is insane and awesome, but the bigger reason that he wants to be mob's student is that reigen's the one-two combo of being materially-cared-for-but-emotionally-neglected and being a socially outcast kid, so he ended up imprinting on them like a baby duck in like the maybe 15 minutes when mob and tome had to be responsible for him. so he waltzed up to their office and made up just about whatever reason to hang out with them. tome decided that an extra errand boy (i mean, secretary) probably wouldn't hurt and mob doesn't have the heart to turn him away (frankly he gets steamrolled by reigen's sheer energy and superior social skills, even at his big age)

reigen is the one who imposes the whole shisho-deshi dynamic onto himself and mob but he's the only person in the office who actually takes that very seriously (and everyone knows he has no powers but chooses to go along with him)

thank you for the ask! feel free to ask more questions about them if you'd like!

What eventually happens for Mob to finally start healing proper from his trauma, if anything?

i visualize my au having basically its own version of confession arc, although i haven't really thought of what the inciting incident would be yet (i do have the idea of having the order of characters who confront him be reversed, so its starts with tsubomi and ends with teru, but aside from that i need to stew on it more)

bottomline is ??? is unleashed for a prolonged amount of time and mob is forced to actually have a conversation with him and face himself as opposed to just constantly running away from or trying to stomp down shigeo

Whats ageswap au Terus thoughts on ???% shigeo? Cuz I feel like he would be very infatuated with that version of Shigeo~

MATRACA OOMF HAIII!!!!!! and yes he sort of is in a way!!!!

one big conflict terumob has in this au is that teru really Really capital H Hates how mob represses his powers, and mob feels like teru doesn't understand the sheer terror of it all from mob's perspective. this is already something well-established since basically the moment they met and there's a lot of reasons why they see it the way they do but the literal boat im on is making me too dizzy to really put into words right now-- at some point teru figures out that mob repressing his powers is actually actively harming mob an he just doubles down on this even more. (and after the death pact he like, QUADRUPLES down on it.)

problem is, as an emotionally neglected child hiding behind a mask of conceited arrogance he doesnt really know how to express this worry very well, and as an adult he would sooner have his teeth and nails pulled no anesthesia no glue no borax than be honest in a way that sounds too vulnerable. so unfortunately half the time it sounds like he's just ultra horny for a no bars held rematch with ???% (to which mob obviously responds with a resounding "No??????? Are you fucking crazy??????" in various different fonts)

obviously teru's not a big fan of how destructive ???% but it's a part of shigeo kageyama and we all know how he feels about shigeo kageyama (a lot. he feels A lot of different things about him)

thank you for the ask hehehe
