dear bl fans, please consider learning bl-history beyond bad buddy. the rivals-to-lovers narrative did not start with them. the feuding families does not start with them. the separating-and-reuniting neighbors does not start with them. and there are important queer film and tv references being made with those tropes that you are neglecting when your lineage stops at bad buddy. i know y'all loved that show. wonderful. i liked it a lot too. but it's not everything. at least know that much of bad buddy's plot points are drawn from Love of Siam, one of the major queer films in Thai history. then we can have real conversations about why Thai BLs keep revisiting this plot instead of pretending like they're trying to recapture the "magic of Bad Buddy," which isn't even the most popular BL that's come out of Thailand. bad buddy is great, but for most thai bl writers, it's not that central compared to the stories its developed from.

I made his life miserable for WEEKS, got together with my best friend, rubbed that in his face, of course. I started drinking and smoking, partying as well, of course!

Than, at one of said parties I got drunk as a motherfucked and passed the fuck out. He stayed with me, while my then best friend/boyfriend almost got arrested by the police since he was HIGH on a plethora of drugs, haha, you know the usual, right?

And, yeah, somewhere, along the way, I saw that, yeah, maybe I can trust him again, since he tried REALLY hard to prove to me that he will not go off and fuck Boston, of all people in a car again.

So what did Dean do exactly?

I hadn’t realised that quite so much of 10 Dance would take place in the UK, or anticipated that this fact would keep taking me out of the story so often during the film. 😕 🇬🇧

Like, I got stuck for a good 10 minutes confused that Coronation Chicken was being presented as the height of sophistication, when in reality for Brits it’s a bog standard sandwich filling you get in your Tesco meal deal lunch 🥪

This was very much a me problem, but sadly instead of getting swept away in the story, tension and stunning performances, I was sat thinking how grim Blackpool really looks outside of illuminations season 😬
