for me pan!martyn's entire "nobody" bit is more so about anonymity as a defense mechanism than lack of self worth (although that definitely plays a part in it).
when he's alone, we see that he has no problem revealing details about his past life. Literally the first time he gets to be away from the others, we hear him talk about how he was preparing for the invasion of Troy (already giving away the general area he was in and the time period he's from), and later on we hear him talk to himself about selenis, who was apparently very good at trapping/hunting animals, and his mother who would have loved the statue he built for artemis. And as soon as he's on his own, he communicates with artemis freely as well. He's clearly fine with talking about these things when he thinks no one is listening.
So when he talks to others and insists that he's called nobody, he's from nowhere, he knew no one and he did nothing in his life, it reads less as he hates talking about his old life and more as he's afraid that the other champions will use this information against him. Maybe he's afraid they'll start piecing things together about him, and it unnerves him to know that someone might figure out information about him he hasn't told them.
perhaps it's even a habit carried over from when he was alive. Maybe he was so heavily disliked by his peers that he had to have a guard up at all times, lest it result in his loved ones being hurt as well (emphasized by the fact that he says he was known by no one. he could have been burning all ties with the people he was close to so that no one could trace him back to them when he was alive). he's basically going, "Please leave me alone, stop asking about me, because I'm scared that you're going to use something about me against my loved ones and I and it will be my fault I couldn't protect them."

episodes that i think every tv show should have:
- timeloop
- whodunit
- musical
- beach trip
- random genre change (especially if it's to a noir detective thing)
- one where they get randomly meta and fourth wall breaky but then never acknowledge it again
- one where something happened but we as the audience don't actually get to see how it happened and only see it through the unreliable narrated flashbacks as recollected by the characters

I nneed someone to over hear nobody saying his name (either bc he's talk to someone or talking to himself). And i need it to be someone like pearl.
Imagine nobody tells a trusted ally his name telling them to never tell anyone else.. then later pearl comes up to him and just says his name, no hi, no forethought, just plain as day. Nobody freaks out thinking that his ally told, that he trusted someone and they immediately told pearl of all people, the closest thing to his enemy.
I don't know whats better/worse; if pearl tells everyone, or if pearl starts to blackmail nobody. Because she's definitely sadistic enough to want to terrorize nobody like that but shes smart so🤷
You really gotta appreciate martyn's talent for antagonizing and turning against him every single person around him no matter the universe
Always so secretive and overly cautious, untrusting of everyone who isn't himself
And tbh it has probably doomed him just as many times it has saved him
And one of the most interesting things about it is his surprise when it immediately comes to bite him back
"you think the worst of me"
Of course they do my silly, you have been as prickly as a hedgehog trying to defend himself to the point that, even if pearl was objectively scarier than you, no one had the same problem with her taking the blessing they did with you
Anyway i just find it so so interesting and i would like to study him in a lab thank you very much
Martyn's character is actually so fucked from every standpoint
like if we consider strategic metagaming, everyone is likely to vote Martyn more frequently because he is relatively good at PvP behind Abolish, Scott and Pearl, maybe.
lore-wise, no one except like Owen knows SHIT about this guy, meaning he's just more likely to come off as suspicious and a threat
character-wise, the guy has no clue what he's doing at any given moment in time but acts like he does around everyone, so again, big target
relationship wise, he's sorta allies with Abolish and Legs. Abolish hasn't told anyone his god, Nikos can be heard from a mile away, AGAIN, BIG ASS TARGET
PvP wise, I'm assuming Martyn's trying to maximise the use of his abilities, so in the episode 1 fight against Pearl, he's fighting with a different combat style (trying to focus long range when I'm pretty sure he's a close-range/head-on PvPer) trying to ScottDangthat'salongnameSmajor1995 style Gatekeep Girlboss Gaslight his ass out of there and IT'S NOT WORKING </3
