Diane Reyes Del Rosario (born August 27, 1962) is an American actress, comedian, writer, and film director. Known for her distinctive blend of deadpan wit, emotional restraint, and versatility across genres, she is a celebrated figure in both American and Filipino cinema. A prominent cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1987 to 1996, Rosario transitioned into a prolific film career, starring in iconic films such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), The Lost Boys (1987), and The Truman Show (1998).

Beginning in the 2000s, Rosario established herself as a formidable auteur director, earning critical acclaim for films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Juno (2007), and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013). She is a recipient of an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Cannes Grand Prix, and a FAMAS Award.

Rosario was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to Filipino immigrant parents. At the age of seven, she moved to the Philippines to live with her grandmother, returning to New York for high school. She attended Stuyvesant High School and the Young Women's Leadership School of Brooklyn.

She subsequently enrolled at New York University (NYU), majoring in Performing Arts with a minor in Cinema Studies, and later trained at the Second City theater in Chicago.

While living in the Philippines, a teenage Rosario was discovered by a casting director in an SM mall. With no formal acting training, she was cast by director Lino Brocka in Bona (1980) and subsequently appeared in Ishmael Bernal's Manila by Night (1980).

In 1981, she starred as Mila Carandang in Mike De Leon's Kisapmata, a performance that earned her a FAMAS Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She continued her Philippine cinema career with roles in the teen comedy Bagets (1984) and the horror anthology Shake, Rattle & Roll (1984) before returning to the U.S. to pursue her education. During this period, she wrote a fan letter to comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas, who responded with advice that Rosario has credited as foundational to her comedic philosophy.

Upon returning to America, Rosario made her U.S. film debut as Stacy Hamilton in the teen comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). In 1985, she portrayed Jennifer Parker in Robert Zemeckis's Back to the Future. The following year, she starred as Sloane Peterson in John Hughes's Ferris Bueller's Day Off and appeared as Carmen in Three Amigos.

In 1987, Rosario joined the cast of NBC's Saturday Night Live (SNL). During her nine-year tenure, she became known for her celebrity impressions as Pat Benatar & Cher and her "cool girl" persona. Concurrently, she played the vampire Star in Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys (1987) and Princess Vespa in Mel Brooks' Spaceballs (1987). She left SNL in 1996 to focus on film acting.
