Somewhere in the last couple of weeks, your friendship with Travis grew into the kind of relationship you can't picture your life without anymore. You don't have many of those and the ones that do exist normally come from years of the other person slowly unraveling your layers and you letting them in bit by bit.
Though Travis manages to do all that in just a few weeks. The way he just opens up to you like it's second nature amazes you. What's even more incredible is how comfortable you feel with him to do the same. Travis fills every space in your life, physically and mentally, yet never feels like too much. He just fits.
He also never seems to run out of things to talk about, but unlike most extroverts you've met, he doesn't drain you at all. Talking with him has zero expectations, he's happy to sit there and talk at you if you're feeling more quiet, offering him little more than the occasional smile or nod.
That's how the two of you are currently spending your Friday night, spread out on the couch he has on his back deck. You're leaning back against the armrest, smoking a joint and listening to Travis ramble about everything he learned you shouldn't do at Coachella when he went for the first time last year.
You've also got your feet in his lap and he massages them absentmindedly while he talks. "And assumin' I'd be fine with the communal showers at the campground? Absolute rookie mistake. Lines are always two hours long at least."
His big hands squeeze the ball of your foot and it feels so good that the sensation goes straight to your core. Your mind wanders to other things he probably does well with his hands before you stomp down that ever present desire trying to bubble its way to the surface again.
This is the one difficult part of your friendship: your ever growing attraction to Travis.
