Just realized how cool being an alterhuman sounds at face value
Yeah there's just folks who appear human and come from families of humans but aren't human themselves. A character from a show could pass you on the street and you wouldn't even know it. Your local librarian could literally be a water snake. Your classmate could be a divine being and you would still know them like any other person there.
We are literally the wild, unfathomable, inorganic, mechanical and the forces of nature among men and that's so awesome to think about

OH MY GODS, I THOUGHT I RECOGNIZED BEETLE’S GRANDMA AND I WAS RIGHT!!!! For my followers who don’t know her, she’s from a graphic novel called Beetle and the Hollowbones (the above link actually leads you to it), and she’s amazing. And so is the main character, a goblin girl called Beetle, and her friend Kat, and the story is amazing, if you follow me for the sort of stuff I write about and reblog then you’ll probably enjoy it as much as I did (and I liked it enough that I walked into the bookstore, saw it for the first time ever with no prior knowledge of it, and walked out of the bookstore having made a very wise investment), and the art is so vibrant it’s practically glowing off the page, and packed full of life and energy to boot!

Plus, it’s the perfect time of year to read it! Actually, that’s a bald-faced lie - every time of year is a perfect time to read a story about growing up, trying to figure out how to get those close to you to understand who you are, deal with potentially changing feelings for a friend, and learning to find the blend of legacy and self that’s right for you, especially when it’s got a great dash of humour mixed in! The setting of the story, however, with its ghost, goblin, skeletal, and other such characters, plus the beautifully warm orange colour theme, makes this a brilliant book for anyone looking for something exciting, feel-good, and a little spooky to read!
