Sara and I are going to be tabling at MICE this weekend in Boston! We'll be at table 35a in the Boston room exhibitor hall and will have signed copies of our graphic novels, minizines and small original watercolor paintings.

MICE is a free comics show full of art and indie comics! We've been going for years and it's honestly one of our favorite shows. I even designed a pin for their merch shop back in 2023! Come check it out and say hi if you're in the area!

Ok. That's enough warrior cats for now. ~w~ Thank you all for your kind messages.

This may have been stated on the books but I forgot to check so- did you have a hand in writing the warriors graphic novels (like. Editing it for comic form lol) or was it all art on your end? Or was it a bit of both?

Ms. Hunter wrote the prose books ~20 years ago, and Sara and I were handed that manuscript and asked to turn it into 3 volumes of comics. She and her editorial team gave us feedback on outlines, designs, etc (as did our editors at Harper), but scripting, panel pacing/rhythm, that kind of thing was me and Sara.

If you're curious, there's a more detailed breakdown of the process in the backmatter for Volume 1.

I'm a huge fan of your graphic novels adapting TPB. Thank you so much for your dedication to the community and all your work on it! As a longtime fan, it was a pure delight to discover. Your artistic style is breathtaking, especially in the third volume, where the staging is very ingenious in illustrating sometimes (often) violent scenes! Truly, a big congratulations for this very inspiring result!

I have 3 questions now that this Arc has been fully published, and I hope you'll agree to answer them: is there a reason Brightkit isn't kidnapped with Thornkit, Swiftkit, Brackenkit, and Cinderkit? Why Thornkit doesn't become an apprentice at the same time as the others and is introduced as a newborn with Brightkit at the beginning of the second graphic novel? And finally, who is Brightkit's mother in this adaptation?

I realize this is a lot, sorry if it bothers you; but this is the only point that left me a little confused during my reading, so I wanted to try to understand better. This does not take anything away from the quality of these graphic novels, thank you again!

To be honest, I also wasn't 100% sure about this one in the original. Theoretically Cinderpelt, Brackenfur, Thornclaw and Brightheart all are in the same Frostfur/Lionheart litter, but Thorn and Bright get apprenticed much later. Cat pregnancy lasts for about 2 months, so it's also totally possible they were their own, second litter. Since Brightheart doesn't really enter the main plot until V3 when she's an apprentice (compared to Swift, Bracken and Cinder being apprenticed later that volume) I figured I could leave this vague.

However, if you want an explanation, I personally have 2 guesses:

Option A, 2 litters: Cinder, Bracken, and a third unnamed sibling were kidnapped alongside Swiftpaw. Unnamed sibling dies before being apprenticed. Bright, Thorn and a third unnamed sibling in a second litter have greencough in early volume 2. Third sibling 2 dies of greencough.

Option B, 1 litter: Frostfur asks Spottedleaf to watch Cinder, Bracken, Thorn (and I guess Swiftpaw if she was watching him for Goldenflower) in the nursery while she takes Brightkit to the dirtplace or something. The kits (minus baby Bright) get kidnapped and then return. Thorn and Bright just barely survive greencough (the other kitten, possibly from a different litter entirely? does not) and need time to recover, delaying their apprenticeship.

Pick whichever you like best ^w^

Hiii, I've had a question about something from the volume 2 for a while, and I've finally decided to ask

Is this cat the same one that Thornpaw bites in Forest of Secrets?

I don't like doing specific IDs (it's more fun to leave it up to your imagination!) but that looks like Thornpaw and Cloudpaw.
