Announcing... Schlocktober 2026!

What is this?

Schlocktober is a month-long writing and drawing event. It was established in 2025 as a response to a kink-free Kinktober calendar that became infamous for having way too many rules.

Its unconventional prompts and loose standards encourage creative freedom and reject morality policing in fandom spaces.

Why "schlock"?

It means trash/junk (affectionate), and that's the quality of content I'm striving for with these prompts. It's also fun to say.

But, y'know, if you want to take a prompt and turn it into a masterpiece of a whumpy longfic, go for it. That's creative freedom, baby.

What fandom is this for?

Schlocktober is fandom and ship neutral. At the time of posting, there are 218 different fandoms represented in previous works.

What if I want to combine prompts? What if I want to write or draw things out of order? What if I want to make a video? What if...

Go for it. Get weird. Do an interpretive dance. Mix in last year's prompts if you want to. Let the spirit of schlock move you.

What does [prompt] mean?

You tell me. It's all open to interpretation.

Is RPF okay?

Yes, so long as it's clearly fiction. See rule #3 below.

Will the collection stay open after October?

The collection is open 24/7/365, but you may not get approved as quickly in the off-season as mods don't check often.

Introducing Terror Traditional Art Week !

November 4 - 8, 2026

Howdy! I'm @magneticrabbit & @demagnetizedrabbit on here, and I'm so excited to run the Terror Traditional Art Week! This five-day event is focused on highlighting all the wonderful traditional artists in The Terror (2018) space! Especially those of you who do not post your beautiful works...

Traditional art includes (but is not limited to!) pencil, graphite, colored pencils, pastels, markers, pens, watercolor, inks, acrylic / oil paints, mixed media, collages, printmaking, textile/fiber art, knitting, crochet, sewing, cosplay, embroidery, sculptures, clay, and so much more! Basically, any physical medium is accepted, but please reach out if you have any questions!

PROMPTS!

Day One (Nov. 4th) - Lieutenants

Day Two (Nov. 5th) - Doctors

Day Three (Nov. 6th) - Mutineers

Day Four (Nov. 7th) - ABs & all other characters

Day Five (Nov. 8th) - Captains

Originally planned for each day to showcase a different medium, but having the basic prompts allows everyone to participate each day if they like!

RULES!

1.) Traditional art only. No digital art. If you have any questions about what this would entail, please reach out through the ask button!

2.) Your art should be The Terror (show, book) or Franklin Expedition-related in some way! Whatever that means for you! :)

3.) NSFW work is allowed, but please tag appropriately.

4.) Please tag @terror-traditional-art in your post with your submissions! Everything tagged will be reposted here unless asked otherwise in the post/tags. This is a great way for everyone to meet new artists!

5.) No AI of any sort.

COMMON QUESTIONS!

Can I digitally edit/manipulate my traditional art?

No. For the sake of fairness and in the spirit of the event, please do not digitally manipulate any photos/scans you take of your art, such as cleaning up lines, removing parts, liquifying areas, etc.

I am a digital artist. Can I still participate in your event if I make traditional art for it?

OMG OF COURSE!! Please! I'm so excited to see all our digital artists' lovely traditional art! <333

Do I need to follow these prompts?

No, these prompts are suggestions! You can do whatever Terror-related as long as it's traditional art.

Can I participate with art of my Terror ocs?

Hell yea! I'm excited to see em!

PLEASE POST!!! Oh my gosh, do not worry about it at all! The main goal of this event is to get everyone excited about making art! I also wanted to make a space that helped remove the intimidation some people may feel when seeing popular, oftentimes digital, Terror art! Post your new art! Your bad art! Your weird art! It will all get reposted here, no matter the skill level or medium. I hope we can all meet and appreciate new people!
