Lego. Or Mirror. Or Whatever-you-like. Law graduate. Still in Conan Hell. Askbox eternally open (until further notice).

I like to imagine that Nasty Burger is kinda like a more extreme Waffle House in the DP universe. Like Amity Park has a 'Nasty Burger index' where they gauge how bad a ghost problem is based on how the Nasty Burger is operating, it they are functioning normally its just something like Skulker or Ember, if they have a reduced menu some sort of calamity has occured like Pariah Dark invading, and if they're closed it's a lost cause, there is no hope and they are doomed. The only time Nasty Burger has ever closed outside of regular operating hours was when the building blew up in TUE, they were open through the end of Phantom Planet and had no plans of ending operations until the building wasn't standing.

I was mostly joking but recently rewatched most of the series with my sister and they were genuinely open during Reign Storm as if nothing was wrong. They're more powerful than I thought.

Pleeease can people remember that Cass is actually one of the older members of the batfam, she's about the same age as Jason, a year older than Steph and two years older than Tim. Please stop talking about her as if she's younger than all of them, or as if she's the "little sister" of the group

This.

This is why people who stay in my life are neurodiverse like me!

this!! I swear I lost like all my friendships bc of this, like I had a group of friends in hs that one day I realized “huh I haven’t talked to this people in a while” and popped in to say hi and they were all awkward?? because they hadn’t seen me in a while?? and that’s when I realized that friendship works different for them?? I was like yeah I haven’t talked to you in like four months but it’s not like I’ve forgotten about y'all why would anything change, and they were all like we haven’t talked to you in four months why are you here again acting like nothing happened? and it was really confusing for me

YEAH! THAT!

Also I have a thing where I just put the people on pause. If I don’t see them or contact them, my brain kinda put them in stasis. I don’t think about them nor misses them, and I stay on what I last knew about them (how they look, what they study/work). So when we meet again I’m like “wait, you’ve aged?” and I have the same familiarity with them thanI had before.

Anyway all my mutuals I haven’t messaged in forever - this is why

oh my gods this makes so much sense??? there are people who i haven’t talked to at all for literally over a year and we’ll pick up like nothing happened, but for their people it’s just like…… falling apart but onesided???? i think we’re still on the same level but actually we’re strangers??

OHHHHHHHHH….

Ok but listen, on the other side of this, as a person who moved hundreds of miles away from everyone i knew and then became a hermit for several years, it was SUCH A FUCKING RELIEF to get in contact with an old friend and have him be like, “my friendship levels do not degrade, so in my mind we are still awesome close buddies” and i almost fkn cried. I thought he would be mad or would have moved on because i had slacked on my reaching out to him and staying in touch and doing all the friendship things. But NOPE. 800 miles of distance, depression, and life changing circumstances didnt steal our friendship and i am SO GRATEFUL.

I have literally no friendship degradation whatsoever. I will not have spoken to someone for 5 years or more, and they’re still as much a friend to me as if I had only seen them yesterday. I’m just very bad at communicating if someone is not in my direct orbit. So when Sonja reappeared on this site I basically screeched into her notes like a banshee because I was delighted and we picked straight back up where we’d left off.

Happy to go on the record that I don’t expect regular contact and will welcome hearing from people after a long time

Holy shit, I didn’t actually realize this was a Thing.

People with low spoons, someone just recommended this cookbook to me, so I thought I’d pass it on.

I always look at cookbooks for people who have no energy/time to do elaborate meal preparations, and roll my eyes. Like, you want me to stay on my feet for long enough to prepare 15 different ingredients from scratch, and use 5 different pots and pans, when I have chronic fatigue and no dishwasher?

These people seem to get it, though. It’s very simple in places. It’s basically the cookbook for people who think, ‘I’m really bored of those same five low-spoons meals I eat, but I can’t think of anything else to cook that won’t exhaust me’. And it’s free!

SPREAD THE WORD THIS IS FUCKING GOD TIER OH MY GOD, SOMETIMES I HAVE SPOONS SOMETIMES I DON’T BUT NO COOKBOOK OFFERS LEVELS IN THEIR RECIPES THIS ONE DOES!

affirmations when opening a stuck jar:

  • I am stronger than the jar
  • I know what left and right are
  • smashing the jar will make a mess
  • I have strong and dextrous hands
  • I have opened jars before and I will open jars again

Take a metal spatula and smack the thin edge of it against the lid hard enough to dent. Do that around the circumference of the jar. You'll deform the lid enough to make it open but not so much as to make the lid useless.

OP: Today is the Qixi Festival七夕(Begging‑for‑Ingenuity Festival). Everyone’s doing the floating‑needle Ingenuity Test. My needle just keeps sinking to the bottom and won’t float. Is Zhinü (the goddess of weaving) telling me I’ve failed?

Chinese netizens: We’ve got to get this needle to float today.

Qixi七夕 is a traditional festival celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh month in Chinese calendar. It is often translated as Chinese Valentine’s Day in English because most people are familiar with the tale of Zhinü (the heavenly weaving maiden) and her husband Niulang reuniting. In reality, however, Qixi has little to do with romantic love. At its core lies the Qiqiao乞巧, or prayer‑for‑ingenuity custom. It was more like a festival for women and girls to make wishes, pray for ingenuity, and gather with their friends.

Today, a popular activity for Qixi is this little test rooted in ancient custom: getting a needle to float on water while making wishes to Zhinü. People usually wish for deft hands, enduring passion, inspiration and creativity. Naturally, any other wishes work too. You count it as a success as long as the needle stays afloat. Even though the traditional rules were far stricter, nobody really sticks to them these days.

In old China, the games' standars are high. Vega‑the Weaving Maiden Star‑was revered as the goddess in charge of weaving and craftsmanship. Women prayed to her for deft hands and sharp wits. Records dating back to the Han Dynasty in Miscellaneous Records of the Western Capital (circa 200 CE) describe court ladies gathering under moonlight to compete in threading needles. The event served as both a contest of needlework skills and a blessing ritual.

From this tradition came the floating‑needle ingenuity test(投针验巧tou zhen yan qiao), a classic divination custom. The traditional procedure goes as follows:

  1. On the night before the festival, people place a bowl of clean water outdoors in the courtyard to collect dew and moonlight.
  2. By noon on Qixi Day, after sitting undisturbed overnight, an extremely thin film forms on the water’s surface under sunlight.
  3. Fine sewing or embroidery needles are laid gently flat onto the water. Supported by water’s surface tension, the needles float.
  4. Sunlight casts the shadow of the needles onto the bottom of the bowl.

Fortune‑telling through the needle shadows (the ingenuity test):

‑ If the shadow bends and takes shapes of flowers, birds, beasts, dragons, phoenixes or auspicious clouds, it is called “gaining ingenuity”. This foretells that the young woman is clever, quick‑fingered and highly skilled at needlework.

‑ If the shadow appears thick, straight and stick‑like, short and coarse, she “fails to gain ingenuity”, meaning her handiwork is clumsy.

‑ A shadow shaped like scissors foretells talent for tailoring and embroidery.

But here’s the general attitude among Chinese netizens these days: “Times have changed. If the needle floats, you win. Forget all their nit‑picky rules. My fate is up to me, not Heaven. I AM THE DESTINY(我命由我不由天)(in Ne Zha’s voice)”. This line comes from the 2019 film Ne Zha: Birth of the Demon Child.

Cnetizens also say a forcibly plucked melon can still be sweet. This saying originates from the traditional idiom “A melon forced off the vine is never sweet”, which originally means forced efforts will lead to no good outcome. This line is a playful twist on it, implying a relationship obtained against all odds can still turn out wonderful. In this context, it simply means anything goes as long as it floats. So nowadays, it counts as a success as long as the needle floats on the water, since people say traditions should evolve with the times. These days, many see Zhinü (the Weaving Lady) as their creative muse. (cr 落秋颐手作,科普阿连)

These are floating‑needle ingenuity test moments shared by Chinese netizens.

One person’s needle cast a shadow shaped like a scalpel, and others commented that she would surely make a great surgeon. Others produced shadows resembling bamboo leaves and squares. (cr美乐蒂大王)

sooo here's what was filling my time for most of last month... made a prop and built an outfit so i could become sea salt for a day at fan expo denver :3

i plan on wearing this at least one more time this year, hopefully with the wig i intended to make for it (ran out of time, so i just slicked my hair back) and the gun touched up to my satisfaction.

might give the gun its own post here later, just making the damn thing—let alone painting it—was definition trial-by-fire, especially with the time crunch... lots of new experiences with materials and tools, to say nothing of actually figuring out how to safely build it in my bedroom lmfao. i'm sure making the wig will be a similarly chaotic experience, since i'm shooting to build it from scratch...
