Weddinmon | Digigirl Zine Vol. 4
Heyo! The latest volume of @digigirlzine just dropped so I get to post my full piece! I had fun painting Weddinmon doing what she does best - getting a celebration going! Her party (do you geddit?) of Shortmons and Candlemons are also here to help!
This zine is chock full of amazing art so please do check it out here!
My process breakdown:
I wanted to portray Weddinmon in a Rococo styled painting so I decided to turn my eye towards those by Jean-Honoré Fragonard.
I mainly took inspiration from 2 of his paintings: "The birth of Venus" and "Aurora triumphing over night" though I referenced the latter more.

Sketches:
I came up with 3 concepts and decided to go for the landscape one since it looked more fun and dynamic!
Painting:
I mainly used the Oil brushes by Max Packs for this piece.
I used the turpentine brushes to tighten the sketch and work on the values of the painting. This then became my underpainting.
Looking back, I'm not sure this stage is super necessary since this is digital after all. I guess it can work if I was more wise + skilled +economical with the strokes I put down. Ah well, practice makes perfect!

Close ups:
Some close-ups of the painting. Really happy with how the faces of the characters turned out.
A side by side comparison of Jean-Honoré Fragonard's "Aurora triumphing over night" with my final piece.
As always, here is the procreate timelapse of this mega piece lol
