Draw Slosh

Hi all,

interrupting my usual to talk a project that is dear to my heart: for the past couple years I've been working with some folks to create Poemancer, a card game that helps inspire and guide you in writing poetry! A little bit like a tarot deck and a little bit like journaling, it's a freeform tool to help you expand your poetry practice or to start your journey from the beginning.

I've put a lot of thought into the design work of this deck, and I also have had fun trying out writing my own poems for the first time since...high school? It's great fun and really versatile in its application, as I've been using it a bit for lyrics in my songwriting as well.

hi, i really like your art and was thinking of eventually buying some of the new prints you're selling, and i wanted to ask a quick question first

what is a risograph print? and how does it compare to the normal 100lb paper prints?

hi! thank you so much for your interest!

A riso print is made with a risograph printer, which uses a limited amount of vibrant ink colors and a process similar to screenprinting to create prints. Because of the constrained color choices, how they mix in printing, and the calibration of the ink layering, you tend to get a much more unique result that doesn't try to directly copy the colors of an image like a digital print does.

Also, some of the inks are really bright (close to fluorescent marker colors), and it's kind of hard to show on screen just how punchy they are but the effect is one of the reasons riso prints are so popular!

For example, here's the sydger DJ piece as a riso that @ceeejus and i are still in the process of tweaking. this is made using only teal, light lime and fluorescent orange inks. The photo on the right is of the regular digital print.

a better example maybe is of my mlpf print, which has the craziest color difference:

my phone camera was really struggling to not make the digital print on the right look like it's gray in comparison....(I promise it's not)

lastly, riso is a bit more laborious+time consuming process the materials for which are less easily obtained, which is why they cost a few $ more.

Ultimately the choice comes down to your stylistic preference. I hope this helps and thanks again!

After several years I am opening up my online shop again! I'm really pleased with how my new prints came out and I'm also offering leftover star trek stock, with some previously sold out risos that I unearthed a few more copies of. I'll be adding a riso version of the DJ print in a week or so as well. Please enjoy!

Not a question but I think you ought to know that the drawing you did of Roger dragging tired Syd up the hill is my favourite Pink Floyd fanart ever made ever ever ever… I come back to look at it every day I love it so so much

That is all…

omg!! thank you so much <3 I'm always wondering if I should work into that sketch more to make it a completed piece. thank you for enjoying it so much it means a lot!

if this adds anything, it's a reference to Edward John Poynter's painting Orpheus and Eurydice

would you mind drawing syd and rick? i think it's a nice pairing but it never gets any art

(i know the answer is gonna be no but i have to try anyway)

omg I do like syd/rick though! think barright is sooo cute and you wouldnt think it but I am a multishipper for all of the floyds.

I might draw them in the future if the winds of inspiration blow my way!
