As you all may know, I like plants!
And a while ago, I designed a grow light to mount on my shelf (see here)
Well, I liked that mount for its simplicity, but it had a few issues.
For one, it got very hot, and the LED panel got to about 65°C, which is really not good for it.
Another issue was the space that was required on my shelf, I need that space for uranium glass.
So I decided to make a new light!! I went and got some L channel aluminum rod, and designed these grippy things to hold these panels on them
I then designed these edge blocks, that will hold it in place, and this allowed me to mount the panel right over my lights, taking up minimal shelf space. (Cameo of @limulid-labs the fish and doglet)
If one works, let's go with many.
Spaced them 6cm apart, this leaves a bit of room on the end, enough for the power supply.
Oh yeah, that's great, I like that spot.
Mounted and cable managed, with purple zip ties of course.
At just over four feet long, this setup is pretty large!
With it mounted, I think it looks great! And my plants like it too!!! They've been growing much happier over the past week or so. And I was able to get rid of the old ugly grow lights that were really not doing much.
I did end up mounting a fan on the end there, and it uses the same 12v supply rail as the lights.
