Con of a growing headcount is that when you want to do something that includes the whole system it takes foreverrr

quarterly reminder to the white folk that just because you know racism is bad doesn’t mean you’ve stopped internalizing racist standards or ideals

take some time to consider the racial biases society has conditioned you to subconsciously subscribe to and have a good day 👍

on TME/TMA: being mistaken for a transfem and catching strays is not the same thing as actually being a transfem: the actual targets of transmisogyny

I know a lot of trans men want to be TMA reallllll bad because someone mistook them for a transfem once and called them a tranny, but the "Affected" in "TransMisogyny Affected" doesn't just mean you have been Affected by transmisogyny at some point--it means it affects you, inescapably, in uncountably many more ways than just random harassment, every minute of your damn life. and it worms into your brain and stays there, because you ARE the tranny they were talking about

you may be a tree near the target and catch the occasional stray, but you are not the target

I had a really good example of this pop up on the bus a while back. TLDR an older cis woman accused of being transfemme was protected by several people, while I, visibly transfemme, was not when the same person started threatening me.

Reading this is chilling. It shines a glaring light on how so little people believe us that we need TME people to weigh in about catching strays just to have our lives acknowledged as real. That our voices carry so little weight merely for being transfem is frightening and it should freighten you too. You, TME person who's yet to understand all this, make this scary.

We know how this happens, how transmisogyny worms its way in, the thoughts that itch at the back of our minds that make TMA people so easy to doubt. I was programmed to think the same assumptions too, and when I dug inward I found the same dirt you will:

It's usually some vague thought or feeling along the lines of "what if the trans fems are lying or exaggerating about how badly they're treated because they're [almost like a man suddenly dropped into womens' skin merely shocked from experiencing misogyny for the first time]; or [weird feminine men desperate to have experiences of misogyny validated as a bizarre form of gender affirmation]; or [weird guilt-ridden men desperate to experience misogyny as some kind of repentance]; or [weird feminist men desperate to exert unique expertise over women]; or [men desperate to position themselves as 'more oppressed' so they can regain their lost sense of gendered power among the voices of women]; or [perverted men who just transitioned for sex reasons overreacting with anger about being treated like the weirdo they are]".

All of this thinking and the roots of ALL transmisogyny come from this fucked up assumption that we are in some way or another always still men. Transmisogyny tells the fiction that a "male essence" supposedly remains at our core and is either morally corrupt, innately digusting, or both. THAT is the lie of transmisogyny, the lie that no matter what we do or who we are, our lives before transition somehow hold some kind of fundamental, inescapable corrupting influence over us today.

It is bioessentialism at its most pure. People take one look at the sex characteristics that we can't escape and transport themselves into a made-up world where some horrid element of male gender must therefore still exist within us. They stop seeing us as men or women and instead begin defining our entire personhood as if we are wolves in sheep's clothing; misguided men at best, immoral freaks at worst. They throw at us all the baggage that comes with a person asking "what kind of man does that?".

We are not men. The easiest way to check for transmisogyny? Stop reacting to us as trans women, as transfems, or as women who are trans; and just react to us as women.

"you can't be punk, it's just not possible" has sincerely become my stance on punk. it's just not possible

The only thing that's punk is arguing about what is and isn't punk

there's nothing punk about semantics or classification actually. it's just not possible

this post made me angry so i went to listen to my FAVOURITE PUNK ALBUMS that i have on CASSETTE (the punkest medium) but i couldn't find them. they were gone. i tried looking them up but the names turned to meaningless fluff in my mind as i typed. it didn't feel like it meant anything anymore. I tried to remember what they sounded like but could recall nothing. I'm saying the word "punk" out loud to myself but it just sounds like noise. I'm not sure i'm even saying it right. was it ever real?

it's just not possible

Ughh, my head… what happened…? I need to go find my Punk Albums

You cannot choose to be punk, that is impossible

You can only choose to be deeply and honestly yourself and follow your convictions

And when you do that, other people might deem you punk

Punk is a title that others can bestow on you, but you can never grant it to yourself

What a strange note… Maybe this will help me find my Punk Albums?

Fuck off Tumblr, I don't need to keep seeing shirtless harry potter characters in my fucking feed

“chocolate guy” is currently shilling for harry potter so i better not see yall post his shit anymore. anyone who engages with that shit especially for money is scorched earth as far as i’m concerned.

Came right up when I searched it, unfortunately

because of the new tv show. and it’s only going to get worse as we get closer to the show’s release. take notice of it — who’s advertising, who’s talking about it, who’s encouraging you to watch it. it’s going to keep happening. there’s going to be more chocolate guys, more nicholas hoults, more kiera knightleys.

take no shit. give rowling an inch and she’ll take a mile. i don’t care how much you like or don’t like someone — if you see them interacting with harry potter positively in ANY way, drop them. unfollow, block, pretend they don’t exist. scorched fucking earth.

and most importantly, be loud about your support for transfems. be transfeminists. be mean about it. fight with people about it. block liberally. download shinigami eyes. read transfeminist theory. provide material and monetary support for dolls who need it, especially the trans women of color in your communities. show them that they’re loved. don’t look away.

facesitting is top tier because you dont even really have to put in that much effort. if a girl is being bratty while youre playing a game you can push me down and sit on my face and then continue playing for the next hour or so

[girl in a low cut top voice] i just dont know what it is but everyone is being sooo nice to me today….[grows grave and guarded] they’re conspiring against my reign and they think me a fool

A mistake people very often make when arguing that trans men or transmasc people don't have male privilege, it to of course forget about transfem people.

They may not always have access to cis male privilege, or not the whole array of what it can provide, but there is one privilege they always have, and it's not being transfem. Much like cis men having the privilege of not being cis women.

Transmisogynized people, if they don't pass as fem or androgynous/genderless, don't immediately revert back to being seen as men. We're seen as freaks, weirdos, perverts, rapists, pedophiles. Something that TME people, cis, stealth, non-passing, in the closet, statistically are much less likely to experience.

This is the male privilege we're talking about. The privilege of not being us.
