movie sub-genres • cyberpunk
cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction in a dystopian futuristic setting that tends to focus on a “combination of lowlife and high tech” featuring advanced technological and scientific achievements, such as artificial intelligence and cybernetics, juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order.
"Here’s how you know Jews are still where they are,” Stewart said on the podcast episode. “Talking to people, here’s what I say: Have you ever seen a ‘Harry Potter’ movie? Have you ever seen the scenes in Gringotts Bank? Do you know what those folks who run the bank are? Jews! And they’re like, ‘Oh, [that illustration is] from ‘Harry Potter!'” And you’re like, ‘No, that’s a caricature of a Jew from an anti-Semitic piece of literature.’ J.K. Rowling was like, ‘Can we get these guys to run our bank?’ It’s a wizarding world…we can ride dragons, you can have a pet owl… but who should run the bank? Jews. But what if the teeth were sharper?”
“It was one of those things where I saw it on the screen and I was expecting the crowd to be like, ‘Holy shit, [Rowling] did not, in a wizarding world, just throw Jews in there to run the fucking underground bank,” Stewart added. “And everybody was just like, ‘Wizards.’ It was so weird.”

btw shout out to the drumming octopus & Karathen (the giant sea creature that had a character silhouette and voice that projected feminity) in “Aquaman“. James Wan really did an impressive job in the creation of a species that normalizes animals that are socialized to “look scary“ as heroic and a part of the story narrative without the villainization of aquatic creatures ala “Jaws“.

SUBLIME CINEMA #346 - BLACK RAIN
This film has been criticized for being ‘all atmosphere’, ‘a designer movie’, ‘all look, no heart’, cheating the audience out of a plausible, good story and solid characters. But it’s Ridley Scott. The movie is flat out gorgeous, evoking his previous ‘Blade Runner’ with a vision of an actual, contemporary Japan that is tantalizingly verging on the unreal. Yes, it has a kind of cheese 80′s appeal too, and shallow on the story, but it’s worthwhile, with some great cinematography by Jan de Bont.
unfortunately, as much I was looking forward to watching and supporting, seems like the new movie “Judas and The Black Messiah“ is a propaganda film. I’m prolly still gonna watch it to have my own opinion on this and cause I’m good at spotting FBI/CIA bullshit specially on media but watch at your own discretion. you’ll be watching a movie Fred Hampton himself woulda denounced since the focus is on the agent that doublecrossed him and got him killed. I’m reading reviews it’s in sense a movie being used as a multipurpose tool by most likely our corrupt gov/feds to use Black Panthers leader Fred to bring in audiences, it could also be a litmus test to see how black folks react to humanization of the traitor that got Fred killed. in a time when black lives matter and the infiltration of these groups and more has been denounced it’s really strange that they chose this path and wasted time trying to tell the story thru the traitor’s perspective rather than the victim. this move reaks of COINTELPRO 2.0 type nonsense and im not with that. im gonna watch and update but if this is true, fuck that movie.
