Just a small question though since I didn’t find the information on your page:

Is this an addition to the game that happens after the epilogue (like extra episodes,) or is it more like additions throughout the game?

Excited to play the whole thing again either way!!!

anyway, it is both. there will be some bonus episodes, as well as revisions and additional scenes in the main game that are sort of a "director's cut" of sorts. essentially, bc we released ILW as we were writing it, it never got the chance to be edited. so ILW Obsidian Cut is basically what it would have looked like had I gotten the chance to edit the whole thing as a unit after it was written, instead of being tied to how things were introduced in earlier chapters or releasing chapters that didn't have a chance to be very edited because we were rushing to meet deadlines :)

Will Dan Pierce get a bit more screentime with ILITW MC? Or is it going to be the same short scenes between them in the Obsidian Cut? If I recall correctly, he only had a little screen time in the OG ILW with Woods MC, I hoped for more w them but I was still happy regardless! Don't pressure yourself to finishing this ASAP! We will wait after everything! ❤️

It's pretty much mostly the same... though there are a few more little snippets of interactions but nothing too big. the thing with Dan is that it's harder to include significant more amounts of him because he isn't guaranteed to be present, unlike Noah who is always there with an important role, either as a ghost or the survivor, so it just makes it a bit more complicated.

studies are going well! i'm actually just finishing up a big paper for the end of my current semester, and then i start an internship next month, which is a nonprofit counseling agency that works with the LGBTQ+ community in my state! Which I'm excited, and nervous about.

and the big test is in a month... after this semester is over i'll hopefully be able to lock in and really focus on studying

We'll release it all at once! I might do a staggered release for the bonus episode though maybe... we'll see lol. I have put that on hold since I've been working on main story edits.

well my two favorites are Noah and Lincoln haha. Lincoln feels like a bit of a copout since I wrote for him, but I really do love him. So one of those two.

As for least favorite... oof haha. I don't really DISLIKE anyone... worst I get is like, positive ambivalence. Maybe it'd be someone from the ILITW gang, just because there was just a lot of them so I had a hard time bonding with a specific person back in the day, and they weren't as proactively involved in things from the get-go. So probably like... Lucas or Stacy I guess? No hate to them I'm just not as invested in them. pls don't hunt me with pitchforks 🙈

i replay ilw every once in a while but it's usually somewhere in the back of my mind because it's so good. thank you so much for making an incredible finale that is just as good, if not better than ilitw and ilb. both series, especially ilitw, have always been about coming of age and trying to cope with grief when it feels like it's your entire life, and that things can and will get better even if it feels like it never will, and ilw does such a good job at keeping up with those themes. it's such a privilege to get to play the entire thing for free, and it's a capsule of everything i loved about pb before they sold out to ai. thanks to the entire team that worked on this for making something truly special<333

One of my only nitpicks about ILW was that the ILB crew had a very limited screen time. Will we be getting more time with them in the Obsidian Cut? I recognise that the ILITW crew has more to do with the story but I certainly wouldn't turn down a chance to have more of my fav characters.

aw thanks so much, that is some high praise!! I'm just glad we were able to do the previous books justice 💖 And yeah that ending is not for the faint of heart, but it is also extremely beautiful; the writers who worked on that did an amazing job!

The best parts for me in ILW were the scary scenes- from the reveal of Abel seeing ghosts to the whole horrors getting loose thing. I know there aren't any major rewrites, but as far as horror scenes go, would it be something that the fans can look forward to?

Off the top of my head, yes, there are a few additional horror scenes that horror fans may appreciate! That said, seeing some of these scenes I'm thinking of are "bad" outcomes that you might not see if you get the "good" or "correct" choice.

This is true! They removed both It Lives Within and Hero from run.tv and the choices app.

Here's the part of their announcement that's relevant to our project specifically:

We’ve seen the conversations happening around It Lives Within, and we wanted to take a moment to address them directly.

Our intention was always to tell a new story within the world of It Lives; not to draw from or overshadow the incredible work created by members of this community. We understand that some of the similarities being discussed have caused concern and we appreciate everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts respectfully.

After listening to your feedback and having a number of conversations internally, we’ve made the decision to remove both It Lives Within and Hero: Homecoming from both Choices and RUN.tv. We have also removed Gilded Scales from Choices.

It was a bit surreal to, after all these years, have our project mentioned specifically by Choices staff, and to realize that the backlash regarding the plagiarism was likely one of the major reasons they walked back these stories. While I'm not thrilled that run ILW was a thing in the first place, I'm glad that they made the decision to take it down, and I'm especially grateful to such a dedicated community who went out to bat on our behalf ❤️

To answer your question… I am working on the final edits but I’ve slowed down. I’m preparing to take the NCE (national counselor exam for counseling licensure in the US) and my sister who I write with is in town for a few months, so we’ve been working on editing one of our books while I’ve also been editing ILW, and going to school and working 😅

So got a lot on my plate, but still working on ILW and making consistent, if slower, progress

Oh, this is a fun question!

I really like some of the art stuff - all the new customization options, improved UI, and some cool animations! Apart from that, I like the new scenes that are added. We really fleshed out a lot of smaller characters who were one-dimensional and/or underdeveloped, which is fun. I also just find a lot of satisfaction in feeling like the logical flow of the story is improved. Oh, one last thing I really like is that there's a considerable amount more of inter-group interactions and bonding, both as a group, and in pairs.

My least fav part has probably been a lot of coding busywork. We improved a lot of the systems we had from legacy, including automation of a lot of processes, and to make the game consistent we've been going through and reworking the code to use the updated method... and that is a huge pain lol.

It's basically anything that I wanted to edit to improve the story. A "director's cut" of sorts. Some of it is cutting down scenes that were too long and stream lining pacing, some of it is adding new scenes, some of it is editing current scenes, some is adjusting lore/plot points to improve clarity and reduce confusion, some of it are small consistency edits, some is just line level edits, some is adapting dialogue to be more in character... it's anything, really.

Each LI does have some additional content though, however their romance arcs and scenes are remaining mostly the same. Some of the bigger edits regarding LIs are probably with the personality variants, as I've really committed to doing a lot of changes based on personality.

One of the bigger changes regarding LIs is probably that Lincoln returns to join the group a bit earlier than in legacy, since he showed up in ch 2 and then didn't come back until the middle/end of ch 5, so he was a quite absent in early chapters.
