Kryžių kalnas (Hill of Crosses) is a site of Catholic pilgrimage in Šiauliai, Lithuania. After the fall of the November Uprising, families started bringing crosses there to honour their fallen loved ones. Despite KGB's efforts to destroy the landmark and stop the pilgrimages, Lithuanians continued to bring the crosses to the hill. Due to the tradition of bringing a cross there every visit, the number of crosses is constantly increasing. It is estimated to be over 200,000.
