those three frames in episode 5 where nick delightedly points at sandray while sand feeds ray an edible lady and the tramp-style... a brief but important chapter in the sandraynick semi-nonsexual throuple manifesto
for the 3-sentence fic prompt: sandray(nick) snort
(thank you :D i wrote something nsfw, then thought, hmm, maybe that's a bit much, and wrote something else... but I like the nsfw better, so I've decided to put them both here, with the nsfw one under a read more)
I.
Nick hadn’t meant to snort – wouldn’t even have realized he had if it hadn’t suddenly made him the center of attention – it’s just that, of all the silly new ways Ray's always finding to work Sand up, constantly cooing about how big he is... it’s a bit funny, they have to realize that it’s a bit funny.
"No, please, Nicky," Ray drawls, "tell us how you really feel."
Nick, eyeing the minefield, praying for a miracle, casts his only lifeline : "Boston’s bigger."
"No he isn’t," they say with the exact same conviction, then narrow their eyes at each other at the exact same time. Good: let them sort that one out between themselves.
II.
Nick, Ray, Sand - Only Friends
Reasoning: Ok so this would be more like: Nick is SandRay emotional support third than him having romantic and sexual relationships with either of the other 2, like a platonic 3rd that is tho really important for the stability of everybody involved Sand and Ray have a buffer in case they have a big fight(cuz we know the people around them would only make it worse) and the 2 provide a safe space for Nick and his issues, Nick can also date people outside but he will still be emotionally attached to the other 2, and they could help him not excalte his behaviour with the person he will be with(in my dream world that would be Dan aka Daddy Dan™️ as i call him)

Bonsoir. Chapitre 11 en ligne
I've recently been doing a lot of reading about what makes the Romance Genre™ the Romance Genre™ and as it turns out the most important thing a story needs to be a romance is that the couple have to be unambiguously happily together in the end. That's it. Apparently, if this isn't true of your couple in the end then your story cannot be of the Romance Genre™, then it's just literary fiction. And this is actually such an insane revelation to me like I can't stop thinking about it because it explains why so often when I've attempted to read Romance™ and 9 times outta 10 I'm annoyed because I feel like these characters get together and it costs them being interesting. I cannae get over that the reason so much romance sucks ass is because the only hard rule is basically "these people MUST be together even if it would be better if they weren't because god forbid the reader is confronted with the notion of impermanence" like....I can't really explain the depths of how silly I find this rule and how much it goes against what I find compelling to read/write about wrt to romance. It's akin to finding out that the Hayes Code is fully enforced in 2026 and everyone agreeing the Hayes Code is how movies should be made because otherwise it doesn't count as a movie. That's how this revelation of "you haven't written a romance story™ unless your characters unambiguously live happily ever after" makes me feel. I personally prefer to think of romance as a method, as means, as a set of knives to cut characters open and go rummaging around for hidden treasure that can't be found any other way, if you will. Who cares if the characters will live "happily ever after"? Here's a better question, are they even yet living?

the thing about thk is that it very much does play with sex dynamics in a way i find extremely fascinating but have still yet to find a way to properly put into words. yes, obviously there's the kantbison D/s dynamic, but particularly when it comes to positions, i find the way it leans into the fixed pair position model to be interesting, especially when it comes to looking at it through the lens of taming (and therefore also misogyny) and who these characters are originally based on. like style is based on petruchio, but he's played by "the bottom," and with kant and bison, while bison is textually based on bianca and therefore his position fits his "role," kant and bison also often parallel katherine and petruchio a lot and most often when they do, kant is the one in katherine's position. (which is also fascinating when looking at their bdsm dynamic because it's a subversion in most every other way EXCEPT that one).
all of this to say that i think the sex dynamics in lesbian!thk would need to be just as complex when translating over. and for all my verse!kb propaganda, i Am rotating the idea of stone top!kant as a result.
as a rule it's always more interesting when two people who know each other outlive a third person that they both loved and then their relationship becomes So Much Weirder and more emotionally fraught, entangled, and charged when that third person dies
