things i’ve learned through TROP fandom: apparently celeborn has stans????

fr idk how they're going to sell galadriel/celeborn given that she's got decent chemistry with elrond (her future son-in-law) and HISTORIC chemistry with sauron (her nemesis)

tbh i would even go so far as to say that the very existence of celeborn is a manifestation of tolkien's weaknesses, failures, and lack of imagination when it comes to writing women. celeborn was basically written as a love interest for galadriel who would not "overshadow" her and imo it's very telling that in order to write a husband for her (as if she really needs a husband!) tolkien decided to write a doormat.

the fact remains that celeborn comes off as just kind of your average aristocratic elf guy while galadriel is repeatedly described as being SO MUCH MORE than that and as a result, it's hard not to see her as settling for him. aside from him being supposedly the "wisest" elf in middle earth (writer's note: this is telling, not showing!!) there is NOTHING exceptional about him in comparison to literally any other named male elf in tolkien lore.

like the fact remains that unless celeborn is like some kind of extremely hot arm candy, there is NOTHING about him that really makes him worthy of galadriel.

tw: armchair psychoanalaysis

tbh it's hard for me to not have some grudging sympathy for ariana grande despite everything bc imo, especially when you take into account her child stardom and whatever litany of horrors dan schneider put her through as a teenager, she's really not that far removed in terms of early life show business-related psychological trauma from like.....britney spears
